Pregnancy success can happen after tied tubes are untied

Tubal Reversal Message Board members discuss testing for pregnancy after outpatient tubal ligation reversal surgery. One tube reversal patient had her menstrual period, but found out a few days later she was actually pregnant. Another sterilization reversal patient had a very faint line two days in a row and confirmed a positive pregnancy after tubes reversed by having a blood test at her doctor's office. Pregnancy success can happen after tied tubes are untied!

This is topic Not sure how to take this BFP! in forum After Tubal Reversal at Tubal Reversal Message Board.

Well ladies, my Af was almost two days lat but showed up on Dec 3rd. I started having CM thick on Friday cd8 so I tested for ovulation came back positive. Sunday still continuing with thick cm went to church was there 30 minutes and began to get hot and sick at my stomach 5 minutes later was n the bathroom throwing up. Threw up twice then left church went home and threw up again. Took some phenergan and slept most of day. Woke up this morning got ready for my HSG test . Took a HPT not sure why just did. Came back positive! went to test told DR she ordered a HCG went home took 3 more HPT all had faint pink lines. Still waiting for test results had DH pee tested ( no faint pink line) So I knew I was pregnant but now need the numbers. Numbers came back @ 40. So if i calculated correct I would be 24 past ovulation! Do these numbers seem low to anyone? I also am cramping so worried!

Posted by paprika0601
I wish none of us worried as much as we do, and I find it almost funny that we are the first ones to say "try not to worry" but worried our little heads off. I've seen lower numbers and successful tubal reversal pregnancies . I cramped up until my 13th week. I worried until I quit cramping. I hope that makes you feel better and maybe worry a little less. Lets wait and see how your numbers do the 2nd and 3rd draw. Good luck. I will be praying for you

Posted by AngieMP
My first number was 44. I am a little confused though .. AF showed on Dec 3? Or do you mean Nov 3? Dec 3 would only make you CD 13 .. and many don't even ovulate by CD 13. Maybe I am reading it wrong ..

Posted by in-Gods-hands
I wish you all the best. It is known that some ladies can O right after AF. So there is a chance you are just very early. What ever is going on I hope you get answers. Hang in there. Miranda

Posted by Abby C
I honestly can say I was one that did not worry. I took a HPT once AF didn't show up. It was a very faint line (barely visible). Took another the next day with FMU and the same result. I called the doctor and went to have BW. My HCG was 72 then the second draw it was 225. I never had another draw and went in for US at 6 weeks and everything was right where it was supposed to be.

As long as your numbers are doubling it doesn't matter where it starts out at. If you read the back of the HPT box it will tell you also that you are more likely to get a - result when you are actually pregnant than you are to get a + result when you aren't. Relax and keep breathing!!!

Congrats to you! I couldn't be happier if it were me! I mean that. I think going through this tubal reversal journey together makes this so much more special. We had our surgeries the same day and have grown closer and closer since then. Like I told you last night, just be excited!! I know it is hard but this is great news! I love you girl!!

Congrats! I hope that everything works out great for you - however.... You are right, if you really are 24 DPO than the number is low. I wonder if you didn't ovulate later that you thought? You know a OPK will react as a +++ if it detects hcg in your urine. It happened to me.

AF was a day late and I tested and got a BFN. AF arrived the next day. But my bb's stayed swollen and AF was very short and light. At around CD 9 I felt right sided and rectal pain. It went away after one day. Then it came back very lightly. I used an OPK on what I thought was CD14 on the new cycle and it was +++. Then 2 days later I started bleeding again this odd purplish blood.

I went in for a blood draw and my level was 120. They did an u/s and found my right tube was swollen huge. They admitted me to the hospital and checked my level the next morning - it had dropped to 84. They sent me home and I continued to bleed and watch my numbers down to zero.

The right sided pain continued and they finally removed my tube 6 weeks later. It was sealed on both ends and full of old blood.

(9 months later I got pregnant again with my one tube left and my son is 13 weeks old)

I am not trying to scare you or discourage you, but the reality is that you are right to be cautious. I hope that you ovulated later than you thought and that your numbers will rise and everything will be fine. But I have had 2 TR babies and 2 m/c since my TR, so I know firsthand that it doesn't always work out.

Please be aware of symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy and go to the doc ASAP if you have any.

I really hope this is your keeper!

Diane is so right... we have been on this journey together for months before out TR and everyday since. Your BFP is our BFP... I do have to say I am not as good a person as Diane lol, when I heard about your BFP I got so anxious to finally see one myself, but yes I am thrilled for you and DH. You both mean the world to us. The best news thus far is that you can get pregnant... and it gives us hope! Here's to the 8-3-09 TR sisters and a happy and healthy nine months for you Beverly.

Well got my second hcg draw back this afternoon. Wasn't good they went from 40 to 52 in 48 hrs. The dr is thinking ectopic. But I will go again friday for a 3rd draw to see if the hcg numbers will double.
I'm really sad but trying to stay hopeful! I have been praying for a baby for xmas for months! I really thought my prayers were answered and I was getting my baby! I guess god must have other plans for me!

Pregnancy Is Possible With Only One Fallopian Tube

Tubal Ligation
Tubal ligation by fallope ring.

The fallopian tube is approximately 10 cm in average length prior to tubal ligation surgery.

Ligation (tying) and resection (removal) of a portion of the fallopian tube is the most frequent method of blocking the tubes. The amount removed will typically be about .5 - 3 cm and, allowing for some damage to the ends of the tube, there should be ample tube remaining for tubotubal anastomosis.

Mechanical occlusion (blockage) of the tubes by rings, clips, bands usually damages 2 cm or less of each fallopian tube and rejoining the healthy tissue usually results in 7 - 8 cm tubal lengths.

Tubal coagulation or cautery (burning) usually causes the most damage to the tube. However, even women with very short tubal lengths remaining may become pregnant, including those women with only one tube. This means in nearly all cases Dr Berger is able to reverse tubal sterilization regardless of the specific type of method used to block the tubes originally.

The operative report (and in the case of resection TL's the pathology report) of your tubal ligation can be faxed to us so Dr Berger can determine in advance if tubal reversal is likely to be successful. If you can not obtain your operative report and the type of tubal ligation method is unknown, Dr. Berger can begin your surgery with diagnostic laparoscopy to examine your fallopian tubes.

In the Message Board topic below, members of the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center forum post their stories about pregnancies that have been achieved with one open fallopian tube following tubal reversal surgery. There are many times that women are told that repair of a fallopian tube is not possible due to the length of the tube. The experience of the physicians at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center has changed the answer to that question for many women. The length of the fallopian tube after tubal ligation is an important factor in the success of tubal reversal surgery. Dr. Berger measured the lengths of fallopian tubes during surgery and compared this to pregnancies reported. He found that pregnancy was achieved with tubal lengths of less than 2.5cm. It was also discovered that a repaired fallopian tube of any length can result in pregnancy. This was even the case for women with just one tube.

I have begun to get the idea from other posts that I have read; many women would like to hear some promising words/stories of hope regarding short tubes and live births. How many ladies with shorter tubes have carried to term out there?? Please share your stories and give those of us with shorter lengths us some encouragement. Thank you in advance!

I am mostly wanting to get some feedback because of another thread poster who is asking about why so many miscarriages seem to be happening. I guess I am wondering if short tubes are an issue because someone said that the egg doesn't have enough time to develop before implantation is supposed to occur... this little blurp has me "thinking" this little comment has me unable to sleep very well. I just think that I would feel better if some TR Moms shed some experience on the subject for me.

This is a very good question, and one that I have thought of myself. I'll start TTC after I am married 12/29, (TR 6/25), and lengths are shorter than yours (Lt 2/Rt 5). Thanks for asking this question. Lisa

Hi girls, my tubes are on the shorter side, they are 3 and 3.5, after 5 months of TTC, I had an HSG, we conceived 2 weeks later and I am now home with my 4 week old, Finley Grace, it can happen...blessings to all of you, let me know if you have any questions, I will check this thread later today, time to go feed Finley.

I really don't think 4.5 and 5.5 is considered "short"...but if it is, I have 5 on both sides and just had my tr baby 6 weeks ago. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the feedback, it's so wonderful to meet ladies who have "lived the dream!" You are an inspiration for sure!! I have a TR sister who's lengths are 10.5 & 9.5 (or something like that) I consider myself short compared to that for sure. I know there are ladies with shorter lengths than I, but hearing your stories of success are uplifting to us all. My recent concern is what would I do if my tubes turn out to be blocked? Would I attempt another TR or give up TTC all together? So... you are giving me hope and I appreciate that immensely!

p.s. Today I got my operative report from Dr. B (I emailed and requested a copy for my OB/Gyn) "I had it backwards" I'm Rt.5.5 and Lft. 4.5 it also mentioned that my left ovary looks polycystic, but ovulatory. That word polycystic seems scary to me... yikes!

Kat - I have 4.5 left and 4.0 right. My right side is blocked. But I have a 3 year old TR son. It took us 15 cycles to see a +++. When TTC TR baby#2 it only took 4 cycles to see a +++, but ended in early m/c. It has been a year since the m/c, but we are not actively TTC, just not using any b/c.
Your lengths are JUST FINE!! Your time is coming.

I had an hsg done after 12 cycles and no BFP. I saw a +++ on the third cycle afterwards. I don't know if it is related, but had heard it could "clean the cobwebs out of your tubes" so to speak.

Mrs. Bennani, I wanted to share with you a story I was following on the board around 2.5 to 3 years ago. The reason it caught my eye was that this woman tubes were almost the same as mine. 2.5 on each side. Mine are 2.5 and 3 so this lady really encouraged me and gave me so much hope. Her board name was Jen and then numbers after it. She had gotten pg very quick after the TR, within 5-6 months I believe. What I remember most about her was she was so calm about everything, didn't seem to worry or even consider the fact that something could go wrong. It was almost as if she never read the board and didn't even realize the what-ifs. She just posted and said she was pg, gave her numbers and U/S results and went on to have her baby. This board is good, but I believe sometimes its almost addictive. At least with me it has been a couple of times. With me, everything wrong that happens to someone else automatically gets stored in my head and is there when I get that +. I'm not saying its those thoughts that have made me miscarry but I almost wish I wouldn't think of those things and stress over them. Stress is not good for pg. Anyway, she did say that she took vitamins and evening primrose, I think that's what its called. I wish she would still visit the board because her story really was inspiring to all the short tubers. Well, I just wanted to give you hope!!! Good Luck!!! And lets all try to relax and do all we can to enjoy our journeys!!! -Kelli

Thank you Kelli, you bring a lot of insight to the idea that the boards can become addictive (I am sure they can be if you let them) I find that they can also be the support that the doctor ordered at times. It's a double edged sword I suppose. It's an inspiration to share triumphs though, the kind that we have seen here on this thread... I am feeling so hopeful and more at peace just hearing all of these amazing and uplifting success stories...by them sharing I feel strengthened and encouraged not to lose heart. I hope you feel that way too. Please keep sharing, and I hope that Jen will find us to share her story... the more the merrier! More Fallopian Tube Length topics from the Tubal Reversal Message Board.

Pregnancies Occur With All Tubal Lengths Following Tubal Reversal
Dr. Berger's detailed statistics on all of his tubal reversal patients include tubal length, age of patient, and type of tubal ligation. Dr. Berger's patients have had successful pregnancies with all different tubal lengths following tubal reversal surgery. The Weekly Pregnancy Reports Forum of the Tubal Reversal Message Board documents the wide range of tubal lengths that have led to pregnancies. There is no minimal tubal length required to conceive a healthy pregnancy following tubal reversal surgery.

Will I Be Able To Have My Tubal Ligation Reversed?
Many women call Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center seeking tubal reversal but fearful that their tubal ligation procedure may have left them with inadequate lengths for repair. Dr. Berger is able to restore the tubes in 98% of cases, regardless of the tubal ligation method. If you can obtain a copy of your tubal ligation operative note and pathology report, this is helpful but not required. You may fax the report to Dr. Berger. If you have reason to believe your tubes were severely damaged, you may be able to have a screening laparoscopy while at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. If there is adequate tubal length for the repair, Dr. Berger will follow the laparoscopy with a "bikini cut" incision and proceed to repair your tubes.

Is It Possible To Have A Tubal Reversal After Monopolar Ligation?
A member of the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center's Message Board discusses her chances of pregnancy after tubal reversal since being told she has had a monopolar Ligation. "The good news is that the tubes are repairable in 98% of the cases and we would anticipate that with 3cm removed, that there would be adequate lengths of tube remaining after surgery." Within 3 hours a nurse from the Tubal Reversal Center had answered her questions. Prompt replies to questions is one of the many ways that the staff of Chapel Hill exceed in customer service.

Scheduled For Tubal Reversal Surgery And Wondering About Tubal Lengths
I was finally able to get a copy of the pathology report from my tubal ligation. I'm still waiting for the operative report, so I don't yet know what type of tubal I had done, but it sounds like they only took .5 cm from the right tube and 1 cm from the left during the TL. I'm hoping that this will put me in a good position to have the tubal reversal procedure and that I'll come out with good lengths.

After Tubal Reversal Excited To See What The Future Holds
I just returned home from Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. I'm sitting here thinking about how grateful I am for the people and experiences in my life. I am truly blessed. Thanks to Dr. Berger and his staff I have 2 repaired tubes, 7.5 and 3 cm. I couldn't have asked for a better tubal reversal experience.

Tubal Lengths And Pregnancy After Tubal Reversal Surgery
A new member of The Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center Message Board inquires whether the fallopian tubes must be a certain length to achieve pregnancy after the reversal. Patients and members of Dr. Gary Berger's staff respond with statistical information on pregnancy rates. Dr. Berger provides the most detailed information about tubal reversal outcomes available from any doctor, hospital, or medical institution. This is done through continuing follow-up with patients after surgery. Continuing follow-up after surgery helps ensure the best care for each patient and allows Dr. Berger to evaluate the success of tubal reversal surgery and the care he provides. Dr. Berger has made this a priority because of his commitment to giving patients all of the information they should have in order to make an informed decision about tubal reversal surgery. Although pregnancy rates are higher when tubes are longer, at Chapel Hill tubal Reversal Center, pregnancies have been reported with tubes as short as 2cm.

You Can Have a Baby after Tubal Reversal Surgery with Just One Fallopian Tube
Jeannie posts a question on the message board of the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. She asks others if they have had any pregnancies after tubal reversal surgery with only one remaining fallopian tube. The overwhelming answer is "yes". A staff member, Rhonda Brown, RN, attests that many of Dr. Gary Berger's patients have become pregnant after a tubal reversal procedure with only one fallopian tube. Message board participants also share personal stories of their successful pregnancies after their tubal reversal procedures.

Pregnant After Tubal Reversal Surgery With One Tube And Ovary
A patient of Dr. Gary Berger posts on the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center Message Board that she is pregnant following her tubal reversal procedure, even though she has just one tube and ovary! In almost all cases, tubal reversal surgery is the best option for women with a previous sterilization to become pregnant. Dr. Berger is able to repair the tubes in 98% of cases with pregnancy rates as high as 86%.

Pregnancy And Short Tubes Following Tubal Reversal Surgery
A woman who chose Dr. Gary Berger as her tubal reversal doctor shares the good news that she achieved pregnancy after her tubal reversal with tubal lengths of 3cm and 3.5cm. Although pregnancy rates are higher the longer the tubes are after surgery, patients at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center have conceived pregnancies with tubal lengths as short as 1.5cm following tubal reversal surgery with Dr. Berger.

Fall Tubal Reversal Babies Arriving
Members of the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center Message Board post a list of the babies born this fall and those due to be born. So far, at least 12 new tubal reversal babies have been born or are due in the two months between September 17th and November 20th. Each of these couples chose Dr. Gary Berger as their tubal reversal doctor and now welcome the new additions to their families!

It's Another BFP (Big Fat Positive) Pregnancy Result At Chapel Tubal Reversal Center
Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center Message Board member discusses how she is pregnant for the 2nd time with only one tube repaired. "Hi everybody..a little shocking news for me. I GOT A BFP!! I had my first tr baby feb.7, my husband and I had decided right after the birth of our baby boy that we would try again and after 6 months of no success we decided to put money into our house and be happy with the 4 kids that we now have. I figured the chances of me getting pg were not great ... I only have 1 tube and it took us a long time after the tr to get are first bfp. I even made a dr. apt. to start birth control last week! Anyhow, I took a test yesterday and it is a BFP!!"

Pregnant With One Short Tube After Tubal Reversal Surgery
A 32 year old is one of nine patients to report new pregnancies following their reversal with Dr. Gary Berger. With one tube that is only 4cm long, she is an example that pregnancy can occur after a reversal, even with one tube that is less than half the normal length.

Is Pregnancy Possible After Tubal Reversal When There Is Only One Tube?
It only takes one tube to become pregnant. Some women are born with one tube and successfully achieve pregnancy several times before undergoing a tubal ligation. At Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, we have pregnancies reported nearly every week from women who have one tube following tubal reversal surgery. Dr. Berger publishes the pregnancy reports received by his office each week on the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center Message Board.

Is Tubal Reversal Possible With Only One Tube After Ectopic Pregnancy?
I am 42 and recently remarried and we both would like to have a child together. I only have one tube because of an ectopic pregnancy. I had my tubes tied when I was about 22 and I had the ectopic pregnancy when I was 30 years old. Will tubal reversal work for me?.

Are Short Fallopian Tubes After Tubal Reversal Associated With Faster Implantation Time?
Pregnancy rates and outcomes after tubal reversal are associated with fallopian tube lengths. The Tubal Reversal Pregnancy Study Report 2007 shows that among women with average fallopian tube lengths measuring 7.5 cm or longer, 59% gave birth or had an ongoing pregnancy. Birth/ongoing pregnancy rates declined while miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy rates increased with shorter tubal lengths.

Tubal Reversal Babies Conceived With Short Tubes
Women who chose Dr. Gary Berger as their tubal reversal doctor share promising stores of hope regarding short tubes and live births. Dr. Berger maintains a database with detailed statistics on all of his tubal reversal patients and posts a weekly pregnancy report on the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center Message Board. This information shows clearly that pregnancy and birth is possible for women with short tubes after tubal ligation and subsequent tubal reversal surgery.

Tubal Clamps And The Chance For Tubal Reversal Surgery
Tubal rings and tubal clips are mechanical methods of tubal ligation applied to the fallopian tubes through a laparoscopy. Tubal rings and clips damage minimal lengths of the fallopian tube and are ideal for tubal reversal. For patients who chose Dr. Berger as their tubal reversal doctor and underwent reversal of a clip or ring sterilization, pregnancy rates are approximately 75%.

Tubal Reversal Pregnancy Report for the Second Week of July 2007
Dr. Berger's tubal reversal patients report 16 new pregnancies during the second week of July. The women ranged in age from 27 to 40 and had all different methods of tubal ligations, including Filshie clips, Hulka clips, ligation/resection, and bipolar cautery. Their tubal lengths following reversal surgery ranged from 2.5 cm to 7.5 cm. These reports show that all methods of tubal ligation are reversible and that pregnancies occur even for women who have only one remaining fallopian tube that is very short in length.

Tubal Reversal Pregnancy Report Shows Pregnancy Is Possible For Most Women
The office of Dr. Gary Berger reported eight new tubal reversal pregnancies during the week of June 23 - June 29. The report shows that pregnancies were achieved by patients with tubal lengths of 5 cm or less and a patient with only one fallopian tube. This report shows that for most women, tubal reversal surgery can be successful. Dr. Berger is the only doctor in the United States with a practice that is limited to tubal reversal surgery.

Tube Lengths After Modified Pomeroy BTL and Subsequent Tubal Reversal
Dr. Berger's tubal reversal patients talk about their tube lengths after their tubal reversal surgery at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. The Pomeroy and modified Pomeroy tubal ligations are the most common types of ligations performed. Dr. Berger reverses these types of ligation all of the time with very high pregnancy rates.

Tubal Lengths After Tubal Reversal Surgery
A few days after her tubal reversal surgery with Dr. Gary Berger, a member of the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center message board posts news of her tubal lengths following surgery. Although pregnancy rates are higher with longer tubes, our comprehensive follow-up study on outcomes following tubal reversal surgery show that pregnancy is possible with tubal lengths as short as 1.5 - 2cm. Once the tubes are open, there is a chance for pregnancy to occur naturally at any time.

Deciding between TR or IVF

Although reversal surgery at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is statistically and financially the best option for pregnancy after a tubal ligation, women over age 40 have a special set of circumstances that are - unfortunately - often not addressed during an IVF consultation. The truth is, most IVF clinics will not accept patients over age 40 or 42 unless they agree to use donor eggs (eggs from a younger woman). This is to help keep their statistics high. We performed IVF for many years at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center and Dr. Berger is now limiting his practice to tubal reversal surgery for a reason: It gives women who have previously had a sterilization the chance to conceive naturally again -- without medications, shots, and continued expense each time they want to conceive. Most of the women who contact us have already considered IVF - and have definitely ruled out donor egg IVF -and for good reason. It will be very important to ask your reproductive specialist very directly whether he/she will accept a woman age 42 for IVF without donor eggs or decline you if your FSH level is slightly elevated (as many clinics do).
For almost all women, reversal surgery is the most successful and least expensive option to have a baby after a previous tubal ligation.

Hi, I am new to the message board, and I am still not sure if I want TR because I am 41 years old. I want the procedure that will give me the highest possible result of pregnancy. Please give me some insight on what you think.

Hi Lisa,
I am 42 and just had my TR done on 9/28/07. I choose do to the TR for several reasons. First I did the 3 day FSH, LH and Estradiol testing to see if having another baby was even in range for me. My FSH came back 5.1, my LH came back 3.8 and my Estradiol came back at 39. All are excellent. So from there, I went to see a Fertility specialist, who told me that I do still have eggs, but they don't know which eggs are good and which eggs are bad. So if I chose the IVF they would extract as many as they could, for about 18K, but that doesn't mean the eggs they extract would be good, but all the things to do along the way, shots etc to get there and not even know if it will work for 18K, was a little to risky for me. But the TR gives me a chance to try every month, possibly trying a few other medications to make the TR work for much less maoney. So for me the TR was the right choice. $5900 out of pocket, and several changes to keep trying...

Lisa, welcome to the board. THis is a tough decision to have to make.
I agree with what Carla posted - have your doctor do the prelim. fertility workup on day 3 of your cycle (its OK if you are still bleeding). Get the FSH level checked (this is like the gas pedal that gets the ovaries working), LH and estradiol (high estradiol can mask high FSH). These levels will give you some idea of how to proceed.
A good FSH is a good indicator that you still have eggs left - your body isnt having to work too hard to get follicles started. BUT - keep in mind that our eggs are as old as we are. Having a lot left at this point doesnt mean they are any good. IVF can not guarantee a pregnancy, and is quite a bit more expensive for each attempt.
In fact, at our ages - I'm 41 today - IVF has pretty low odds for the expense.
Good luck as you make your choice!

Lisa,
I will tell you my experience. I was told I was a perfect candidate for IVF. I had the FSH and all the prelims done. After my first round of IVF I became pregnant with twins, I lost both by 12 weeks and had to have a D & C. After much thought we decided on 1 more cycle that was unsuccessful. IVF is emotionally, physically, and financially draining. After my 2nd cycle the RE told me I was too old (I was 37) and so were my eggs and that I would probably need an egg donar. Thank goodness I found Dr. Berger! I had my TR in Dec of 06 and found out I was PG in February! I am due to deliver any day now! I know that IVF has worked for many but you should definitely do some soul searching before you plunge in. With IVF you only have the opportunity to conceive a couple of times a year and then you have to pay for it every time. With a reversal you can try to conceive once a month. I also believe that with IVF there is too much human interference. Natural is always better for your body! I thank God everyday for giving Dr. Berger the skill and the compassion to help out all of us who regret their TL. Sorry this is so lengthy! Whichever you choose I wish you much success and will remember you in my prayers!

Hi Lisa I just wanted to chime and say that I agree with all the post you have received. I had my TR June 2007 and I am in the 2WW now.
I had 4 cycles of IVF two were successful, but 1 ended in M/C and the other ended right after the procedure. The other two were stopped because I was not responding. Luckpjs is correct that it is draining. My fertility Dr made me believe IVF was my only option. I have been on the IVF road since 2003. I feel like I have wasted a lot of money and hundreds, possibly thousands of viable eggs. IVF is extremely expensive. I can honestly say not including insurance payments we have spent over 50 grand. For the price of one of my prescription I could have had TR surgery twice. Do the math. The TR will give you the oppurtunity to try month after month as opposed to waiting to complete an IVF cycle. Just remember there are no guarantees with IVF even when the eggs are transferred they is no guarantee a pregnancy will happen. Talk to your DH and make a joint decision. God bless you and good luck in whatever decision you make.

Posted by nshelia7 (Member # 11224) on October 10, 2007 11:49 AM:
One other thing I did not mention those shots can be pretty painful OUCH Will you administer your own shots or will your DH have to? And if so have either of you given shots before? Its not an easy thing. My DH gave me my shots and sometimes I felt as if he were sticking me too hard, but I think i was just being paranoid and stressed. You will alos have to have vaginal ultrasounds, a battery of test
and your DH will have to his semen analyzed. Will your insurance cover this?
Just thought I would add that in , I found out about a lot of the additional charges after the fact.

Hi Lisa, I had tried IVF last year around time and it is very emotionally and finaicaly draining. I wish I would have had my TR done 1st. To go though the process of IVF not having it work is the worst experience I ever had. I had my TR in May 2007 no BFP yet, but aleast we can try every and not a one or two time deal.
Good luck

Lisa..I'm 37 (38 in a few weeks)...I went thru IVF in 05...'perfect' candidate..no reason it shouldn't take on first try.... well didn't work and all that $$ gone on one shot. After many DR's telling me TR was not option...DR B did the TR this year...7/23/07, I came out with lengths of 3cm on each side. We were blessed with a BFP 9/12/07 (first cycle TTC), sadly though ended as Ectopic 9/25/07. Even with the ectopic we are estatic to know we did get PG......and have another chance and another chance. Spending $6000 for chance after chance compared to easily $15-$17,000 one chance IVF...I'd go for the TR -- hands down.
I also have a friend that did IVF too-- a couple of cycles - no success...had her TR 10/06 and is expecting baby any day now...and Dr B did her TR as well...and she is 40.
Good luck to you with whatever decision you make.

I'm sorry you feel that way Jerseygirl...however it is everyone's opinion....and we are all speaking from experience. Having tried IVF and it didn't work...then doing TR and having the CHANCE to do a repeat month after month is better than having the chance to do nothing because of financial reasons and insurance not covering IVF. I know there are women on the boards that have been sucessful with IVF..however statistics on that one too...the rate of it working first time....of ALL women that choose it...it is low.
Blocked tubes - everyone knows is a risk we take with TR... everything is a risk. I'm very sorry yours are blocked....but the chance was there for you, just as it would have been had you went with IVF first time. Bad hand dealt to you and once again very very sorry for you.
It doesn't matter if those that have posted have yet carried a baby to term....
Bottom line...everything happens for a reason. If we are meant to have a baby then we will..if not...then we wont regardless of the medical intervention used to try......
Not meaning to ruffle feathers..just expressing my opinion.

I REALLY think you hit the nail on the head...with saying all should be tested / checked over prior to TR or IVF....this a valid and smart point..that really I'm sure alot of sisters just thought they could have the surgery and all would be great...not knowing the underlying problems.
I'm sorry for your situation as well. Good luck with your dr appt next week!!!

Marly, I would definitely think about getting checked to see if you have any scar tissue or any other "plumbing" problem that could be preventing you from getting a sticky bean after all those IVF attemps. Good luck to you!

Tubal Reversal in Mexico - Reply

I can't begin to tell you how different you will find your experience at Chapel Hill! Coming up with the funds for the surgery was very difficult for us as well but truly worth every penny.

You will most likely find that Dr. Berger is incredibly reasonably priced when compared to other physicians especially combined with hospital fees. It came out to a 65% discount for us over what my local RE and the hospital was going to charge.

Also, when I say I did my research, trust me I did. I even called the NC medical board and governor's office. I research public records for any malpractice suits (not even one suit against him) and called the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and there was not one negative about this man who has been practicing for 30 years! My general practitioner thought I was nuts for finding a DR online and when he completed his research, his words to me were, "I'd send my wife to him after everything I've learned." Now, my RE was a personal friend and recommendation by him so that should speak volumes to you.

As for success with the surgery, I unfortunately do not have another child but I have been pregnant three times in the last year since the surgery so at least he's taken me a step closer and I have faith that we'll have a "sticky bean" soon. God led me to Dr. Berger and he's now leading you to him as well. With effort, patience, and diligence, the money will come.

Again, the man is worth his weight in gold and his nurses are worth just as much, if not more!

Make sure to have all of your gynecological work ups done before you have the surgery to make sure you don't have any other obstacles. One other added bonus is that you won't find better support than on this board. The women are incredible, knowledgeable (even more so than some physicians and nurses that work in Gynecology) and courageous and always willing to help. My RE is always impressed with how much I know and the types of questions I ask. He tells me that I'm the most "informed consumer" he's ever had. I think Dr. Berger should charge a fee for the message board service alone because it's kept a lot of us from having to seek out a psychiatrist, hahahah. There's always someone to pick you up at your most desperate moments and a nurse you can call when you're just about to lose your mind. The best part is that the service doesn't stop once they send you home post surgery. They offer service and support well past the time you leave!

God bless you in your journey and send all your spare money to Chapel Hill even if it means skipping the "die for pumps" on sale at Macy's!!!!

Tubal Reversal Surgery in Mexico

Tubal Reversal Surgery in Mexico was the worst experience of my entire life.

A new member of the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center Message Board shares her "horrible experience" and poor outcome after traveling to Mexico to have tubal reversal surgery. At the time she was motivated by the lower fees she saw advertised, but found that the experience with the other doctor to be a bad one and not worth the savings. She has now chosen Dr. Gary Berger as her tubal reversal surgeon and plans to travel to North Carolina for a repeat repair and a second chance to have a baby with her partner.

Posted by browneyedangel September 05, 2007 01:24 PM:

Good afternoon! I am writing to let everyone know about what happened to me when I had tubal reversal surgery in Mexico this past January. It was the WORST experience of my entire life!!!!!!! I investigated tubal reversal very well, at least I thought I did. My boyfriend and I decided to go to Mexico because it was half the cost of having tubal reversal in the United States. I took a loan out of my pension, and we scrimped and saved for the remainder of the money. When I arrived in Mexico, I was told via translation from a co-worker of my boyfriend, because the nurses didn't speak English AT ALL! I was informed that I was to have surgery in a half hour. I wasn't prepared at all. I was scheduled to have it the next morning. But, three hours of surgery, it was to take an hour, I was wheeled back to my room. I was in MAJOR pain!!!!!!!!!

Long story short, I arrived back into the states and was in the emergency room in Philadelphia. I was then in the emergency room of my local hospital two days later because my physician thought that I had complications from the surgery. Two months ago I had an HSG done and was told that the surgery didn't work. I have 5cm of tubes on both sides, and my insurance company won't cover my infertility treatments or anything because I had my tubes reversed. However, if I did get pregnant they would cover me.I am now divorced, and almost 42 years old. I've been with my boyfriend for 1 1/2 years. We DESPERATELY want to have children.

I found Dr. Berger's web site and spoke to the RN, who was very nice and kind. I can have the tubal reversal redone by Dr. Berger. The problem is now having to come up with the money again. My boyfriend refuses to take out a loan for the surgery. I am not able to take out another loan on my pension. I had a horrible outcome from it. We really want a child, and are very mad that we didn't just save up more money and go to Dr. Berger in the first place.

Please pray for us that we are able to come up with the money to have Dr. Berger help us. WE DESPERATELY WANT TO HAVE A CHILD TOGETHER!!!!!!
God Bless!

I am so sorry your experience at the other facility was not a good one and look forward to having you here for a re-reversal with Dr. Berger in the future. However, please remember that our rules for posting strictly prohibit name calling or negative comments about other doctors. For that reason, I have edited your post so that names have been removed. Post Tubal Syndrome

Posted on Yahoo Answers
I have Post Tubal Syndrome and need a reversal but doctors charge so much and will not work with me is their any doctors that believe in this and will help me?

Dr. Berger at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center in Chapel Hill, NC is the only doctor in the country with a practice that is limited to tubal reversal surgery and, to my knowledge, he is the only doctor tracking statistics on post-tubal ligation syndrome.
The problems you have described are familiar to us and we definitely know that the problem exists since we have heard similar stories from so many other patients. Unfortuantely, as you know, "PTLS" is not recognized as a problem by either the medical establishment or the insurance industry. Dr. Berger began studying this problem in his patients because a certain percentage of the women contacting our office would mention developing a variety of health issues after undergoing tubal ligation. Fortunately, the majority of women have contacted us after their reversal surgeries with Dr. Berger to say the TR had helped them dramatically - even if pregnancy was their primary goal.

We are collecting data from Dr. Berger's patients who tell us they have this problem, then following up with them 6 months after their TR surgery. We have not completed this study yet - but so far, it appears that close to 90% of the women we have followed up with have experienced either some or dramatic improvement. There is not way to know whether you would be one of them - but you certainly have a possibility of feeling better from the TR surgery.

I hope this information is helpful to you in making your decision. If you would like more information, you can contact me directly at JuliaS@chfc.net.

I have to go to another doctor to confirm if I have this still, getting really scared in away. It gives me hope that some girls are getting relief from swelling of their legs after their TR, guess I'm going to have to get it done and pray it works. (((HUGS)))
If anyone has any info, I would love to hear from you. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by leo79 (Member # 11266) on July 25, 2007 05:13 PM: Cutiebabiesbyr you are not alone, I was going through the same thing my feet, hand and face were constantly swelling and I had terrible abdominal pains. I went to my GYN and she did a sonogram and told me everything was normal and that I should take motrin for my pain. Now you know your own body and I knew there was something wrong. My HB was tired of seeing me like that and one day he just said you are going for the TR and I did. I had my Tr on 7/05/07 and I know this might be too soon by so far so good. I feel great the swelling is gone my pains are gone and I feel great. The surgery was fast and easy and Dr. Berger and his staff are wonderful. It is so unfair that Dr's don't tell you all the bad thing that could happen with TL. I hope this helps and keep us posted on your condition good luck.
Leo --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by Rhonda Brown, RN (Member # 9485) on July 25, 2007 07:50 PM: Dear cutiebabiesbyr,I am so sorry that you are having to go through this swelling. As you can see there have been patients that have experienced some similar symptoms. I know that you will find great support here. We have lots of patients that come for symptoms that they began having once they had their TL (PTLS). Most of our patients that come for PTLS report an improvement/absence of the symptoms after the surgery. I would be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. You can either call me at 919-968-4656 or by email: RhondaB@tubal-reversal.net I look forward to hearing from you.Rhonda --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by randi (Member # 10710) on July 25, 2007 09:07 PM: You are definatly not alone, im sti waitinto get my TR, and I have posted before about my symptns. I went from having a 5 or 6 day AF with only 1-2 heavy days, to now 9-12 days, all heavy, my iron is shot, i think the highes ive had on iron was 8, i used to wrap myself in a little cacoon when I slept, now I only use a sheet and cover just my mid section because im having hot flashes, just horrid, I even went in for a full blood work up and pap just to see if there was anything funny and everything came back normal except my iron. At first my husband thought i only wanted the TR for another baby, we got into a huge arguement that i wasnt just saying this stuff was happening, so I made him come to the bathroom with me during AF, and he was horrified and almost wanted to take me to hospital because he realized that there was way to much blood. I hope I can get this done soon and I hope it helps you and your symptoms, Im only 26 , I feel 90 and the thought of feeling this bad for the next 25-30 yrs until I go through the change makes me cry and also makes me more upset because I was not warned that my body may change, I was told that it would not affect my body at all, i would not notice any change and they were wrong. sorry this is so long, i just needed to vent. good luck to you --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by Holden (Member # 11265) on July 25, 2007 09:27 PM: Hey Girls:
This is amazing! I thought that for the past 9 years I have just had MAJOR water retention. I do not salt anything and try to stay away from foods that contain alot of sodium. The swelling is also in my legs, hands and face--some days being worse than other. I am even on a diuretic for it. Also, my cycles each month are HORRIBLE! I go anywhere from 7-8 days and there are days that it is so bad that I really do not even need to leave my house, afraid of having an accident. I have even had to miss some of my son's baseball and football games because of it. PMS--HORRIFIC!!!!!! My TR is scheduled for 10/04/07 and I really hope that all of these symptoms improve and then I get to have a baby! Wouldn't life be grand?!
I had to put my 2 cents in. I hope all of you get relief from the TR! I know exactly what you are going through.
Lisa --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by leo79 (Member # 11266) on July 26, 2007 09:14 AM: Wow this is really amzing on how many of us have had to go through this horrible experience, I wish there was something we could do to prevent others from going thorugh this. I just don't find it fair and to top it off insurance companies won't pay for the TR since they consider it an elective surgery. Sorry to keep on babbling but I am so upset that Dr's don't tell you that you could have all of these problems. To all of you dealing with these issues hang in there I am sure that once you have your TR you will be feeling as wonderful as me.
I will keep you all in my prayersLeo --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by cutiebabiesbyr (Member # 11190) on July 26, 2007 01:47 PM: Thanks girls! I really hope that I have a good experiance with my TR, I feel like everyday I wake up and have a new symptom.
If anyone else has had swelling and redness, please post, I would love to know that we're not the only ones going through this.Thanks. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by cutiebabiesbyr (Member # 11190) on July 26, 2007 01:57 PM: Holden, I know what you mean, I don't eat anything with salt either, I noticed that my legs are always red, but it's REALLY bad when I get AF or when I ovulate, I can't even stand, I see the blood racing to my legs. My doctors were telling me it's because of my high blood pressure, but isn't it funny, I never ever in my life had blood pressure problems, I was always even when I carried twins at 13lbs my blood pressure was 120/70, but the second I got the TL it's been 140/90, I think that's a big enough red flag if you ask me, so my BP has been up for the last 3 months and I SO blame that on the TL too, I always feel heart palputations and notice there are other women on here that have this too, so I know that's a sign of PTLS. Guess I'm hoping and praying that swelling of the legs is part of the PTLS so I have a chance to get better after my TR, otherwise I'm lost and don't know what else could be causing this, doctors don't even know.
leo79, Thanks, I'm so glad that I'm not alone with this, I hope these things get better and I really wished I was warned of these symptoms, even if they would have told me that anything could have happened or if there was a chance of there being a side effect, I would never have done this to myself. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by Holden (Member # 11265) on July 26, 2007 03:39 PM: Hi Cutiebabiesbyr:
I have a little reassuring news! I went to my GYN doctor today (to have my lab drawn for my TR surgery)and I talked to him about PTLS. He said that he was a firm believer that women DO have problems after a TL. He also told me that he has done research and that he believes that each year that passes after a TL that women's symptoms get WORSE!!? I cannot imagine it any worse. He was excited about me having the TR surgery and he said that he felt sure all of the symptoms would go away afterwards! This is hope for us girls!!!
Happy!Lisa
P.S. I had my TL done in 1998 (9 years ago) How many years has it been for you girl's? (My GYN said that symptoms usually really start getting even more severe after TL at about 5 years afterwards) Just wondering? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by leo79 (Member # 11266) on July 26, 2007 04:23 PM: Hi Holden,I am truly impressed with your doctor and he is defitnetly a keeper, my gyn told me to take motrin and did not recommend the TR. I started with the symptoms two years after my TL and 5 years later I was just overwhelmed until luckily I had the surgery 3 weeks ago today and feel great. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by cutiebabiesbyr (Member # 11190) on July 26, 2007 05:10 PM: Holden, WOW, WOW...is all I have to say, that's soooo awesome that you have a doctor like that, I agree he's definitely a keeper! I was told by my GYNO that it's in my head and I should go on anti depresents and see someone, ummmm, my hormones are out of control, my legs are swelling, my nails aren't growing and they're infected, my BP is through the roaf, no hair on body anymore, panic attacks, memory loss, throwing up when ovulating, runs, I can go on and on. I too don't know how much worse mine can get. That's awesome news that your doctor says he believes in PTLS and that a TR will help, this give me sooo much hope and I can't wait now to get it!
I'm hoping and praying that out of all things that get better is my legs, BP, and my nails...I really hope these things get better, I only had my TL 3 1/2 months ago and I'm already living you know what
I hope people keep posting to let me know that I'm not the only one with leg problems. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by Holden (Member # 11265) on July 26, 2007 06:59 PM: Leo: That is AWESOME that you feel better already--just after only 3 weeks. Hopefully it will help the rest of us...I am praying for us all!!
Cutibabiesbyr...I know exactly what you mean. I started having problems right after my TL 9 years ago and it has only gotten worse. Some doctors don't even believe in PMS, much less PTLS! You and Leo are right, I agree that I have a keeper...there is only one problem...he is retiring next year. I adore him. He is one of those men/doctors that really listen to what his women patients have to say. When he told me that today I couldn't believe it. He said that he had done the research on PTLS and that some doctors try to "fix" it by giving water pills, antidepressants, vitamins,Motrin, Advil and even sending women to see a Psychiatrist...whatever!!! He said there was one way to fix it all--have a TR ASAP!!!
I am glad this info helped. You know, I was beginning to think there was something REALLY wrong with me because you feel "crazy", when you know you aren't. Life is going to be better, I just know it!
See ya girls,Lisa
P.S. See what I mean, I can just start talking about the symptoms and I get all wound up!!! HA --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by cutiebabiesbyr (Member # 11190) on July 26, 2007 08:45 PM: Lisa, I actually love talking to you girls, it definitely makes me not feel like I'm alone, even if it's just venting. Your doctor described what about what other doctors do to try to fix it you said it perfectly and described what these doctors are doing to us women that have PTLS after a TL to a "T" I can't believe sometimes and understand how they're getting away with this, like DH said, it's only a matter of time until this blows up in their faces weither they know about it or not, too many women are complaining about it for them to keep ignoring it like this, even my GYNO admitting to hearing "of PTLS" I asked why I wasn't informed that there could be a risk to this, she just gave me a face and said "well, we don't want women thinking things" her face was almost like telling me, if they say something, then women are going to put it in there heads and will believe they have these symptoms. It's real and I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I know what you mean about thinking something is wrong with you after doctors tell us there's no such thing, there's no way to imagine these symptoms, when it hits, it hits like a ton of bricks, well...I think more than a ton of bricks, but that's just how bad I have it hehehePlease, please lets keep in touch, after you have your TR, please post on how everything is improving, you've given me hope that most of my symptoms will go away, now I just hope the leg swelling, BP and nails are all part of this too.
((((HUGS))))Regina --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by pghtwins (Member # 11308) on July 26, 2007 09:31 PM: Hi ladies, I had to chime in and let you know your not alone. I had my TL last year 5/30/06 and have not been the same since. I did not get AF for 2 months got really sick hair falling out, sick to my stomach, almost could not get out of bed. I went back to the Dr who did the TL and he said I was in menopause!! I told him no way in two months how could I be in menopause! He suggested hormones and did blood work. He called back and said sorry you are not in menopause you are hyperthyriod. My blood pressure was high so the endo DR put me on blood pressure pills and antithyroid medicine. I never had any of this before the TL. Now my thyroid is in normal range and I still feel like you know what! I have been to three gyne DR two said Hysterectomy. No one that I have seen believes in PTLS. I scheduled my TR with Dr. Berger 08/23/07. I am praying this will help. Sorry so long, but I could go on and on!
Lynn --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by Holden (Member # 11265) on July 26, 2007 09:41 PM: Regina...I will keep in touch and let you know how symptoms are after TR.
I guess the really sad part with me is that since TL in 1998, I had never heard of PTLS--until I started reading everything on the CHTR website and on the message boards...then I woke up! All of the doctors that I have talked to about symptoms since 1998 said it was just PMS--take Advil...(yeah that helped...not). (That is the reason I mentioned it to my GYN doc today).
My main reason to have TR is for me and my DH to have a precious little baby together but I will anxious to find out if I feel like my "good ole self again"!
I'm thinking about you and I know exactly how you feel. This message board really is great!!
I'll check in on ya later...
Lisa** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by Holden (Member # 11265) on July 26, 2007 09:49 PM: Lynn...just chime in anytime!
I know how you feel and I can relate to your symptoms...we all can...it is the same old story over and over and over...it is ridiculous what we poor women get talked into, go through and then wind up feeling like garbage all the time...but I feel like it is going to all change for us, for the better!
My TR is scheduled for 10/04/07...
Good luck on your TR on 8/23/07...We will all pray that your symptoms totally disappear!!
Best Wishes for you
Lisa --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by juliea (Member # 11218) on July 26, 2007 10:04 PM: Do you think my blood pressure could be caused by my TL. I had my TL when I was 22, but no one told me I had high blood pressure until I was 27-28. But I HATE to go to the doctor and didn't have insurance during that time either. So I wasn't going to the doctor. So who knows maybe it is the reason. We will see after I get my surgery. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by leo79 (Member # 11266) on July 27, 2007 08:55 AM: Welcome PGHtwins, it's nice to hear from all of those who have had all of these horrible symptoms after TL. I am sure that you all will find relief after the TR. Dr. Berger is wonderful and the nurses are just fabulous and the best part of it the procedure is very short. I will be praying for al of you and please keep us posted it will be nice to hear that we all made it to the other side and we are all feeling like new.
Leo --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by leo79 (Member # 11266) on July 27, 2007 08:58 AM: Julia it probably is but I'm sure your Dr is not going to admit it is. I would just look on the brighter side and get the TR as soon as possible.
Good Luck --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by cutiebabiesbyr (Member # 11190) on July 27, 2007 12:13 PM: juliea, I can almost guarantee that my blood pressure went up because of my TL, I never ever had any problems until then, ever...my BP was always 120/70, the day of the minute the surgery the surgery was over my BP was 140/90 and since then hasn't come down, I'm even on meds and it's not working for some reason...I have to actually go back to the doctors today to do something about this...I hope --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by cutiebabiesbyr (Member # 11190) on July 27, 2007 05:19 PM: Holden, Thank you so much for keeping in touch, good luck with your surgery! I'll be praying for you!!!
Well, I went today to the vascular doctor again, my BP is 150/110, this is insane I feel it going up too when I'm about to ovulate or get my period, this is soo wrong. I have to head off now to my regular PCP and see what she wants to do, I think I have to change my BP meds.
One of my legs is bigger than the other, he didn't have too much info to give me. It's not major, but it's there, anyone of you girls have swelling in one leg more than the other? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by pghtwins (Member # 11308) on July 27, 2007 06:21 PM: Lisa... Best wishes to you too! I'm getting kind of nervous how about you?
Regina... My legs and ankles swell right before AF also, I get severe pain on the lower left side!My hair has be falling out,and the PMS is terrible!! I'll let you know how I feel after the TR. Lynn --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by pghtwins (Member # 11308) on July 27, 2007 06:29 PM: Leo, You give us hope!! I'm so glad you feel better. My mother and Aunt think I should have a hysterectomy. They keep saying what if the TR does not help?? And I keep saying what if it does!!!I just know my body and the TL messed me up. Thanks for your prayers, Lynn --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by Holden (Member # 11265) on July 28, 2007 09:24 AM: Good morning girls....
Regina: Bless your heart! You have just got to feel terrible with a BP of 150/110. I am thinking of you and you are in my prayers!
I really believe now that TR will help your symptoms as well as the rest of us here.
Lynn...You know it is really weird, I am not one bit nervous about my surgery on 10/4. It is strange, but I guess that I am just so ready for it!! You only have 26 days to go, right?
I agree with you...I think the TL surgery messed us all up really bad. I am like you, I really believe in my heart that the TR will help you and the rest of us here...I would definitely put off a hyesterectomy as L O N G as possible! I really do wish you luck on 8/23--we are counting on you to update us with GOOD NEWS aftewards!!
Talk to ya girls later,
Lisa --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by cutiebabiesbyr (Member # 11190) on July 28, 2007 12:27 PM: Lisa, do you know what's REALLY weird, when I feel the hot flashes and my heart racing that's when my BP goes up, after I posted I headed off the my regular PCP and guess what, I didn't have the hot flashes and racing heart like I did in the morning when my BP what 150/110, my PCP checked it in the afternoon and it was 120/76...I sooo know this has to do with the TL, my body I feel like is jumping all over, I think I'm about to ovulate and my body is going insane again. tell me that's now weird, my PCP asked me who at the vascular doctors office took my BP because she didn't believe me, ummmm, the vascular doctors office took my BP a few times because they were nervous about it being soo high. I don't think my PCP believed me, what else is new, they don't believe anything I say anymore, even when I have proof. Even when I have proof that my BP was that high a few hours before hand, she could even call my vascular doctor and ask him herself, but of course she wont...she just think I'm nuts as usual LOL I've been going to her for over 12 years and never ever had problems with my BP, if she puts the picture together like I am and realize that as soon as I had my TL 3 months ago the moment after that's when my BP has been insane since, she knows from all my records back that I've never had a problem, I should never have said TL, all she keeps telling me is that she's concerned that I'm depressed and needs to see someone, and need to go on anti depresents (heard that 100x), I told her that I'm not depressed, I'm trying to figure out why soo many things bad are happening to me after my TL and don't want to see anyone.
Lynn , My legs swell and get really red around AF and ovulation, I can't even stand for 1 minute, I feel like it's not far to my kids That's why I'm hoping this TR will help atleast that and my BP and nails again, not that worried about my nails, but they say nails tell A LOT about what's going on with a persons body, ya know. My legs still get red inbetween AF and ovulation, but I can atleast stand a little long without them getting as red, still red and swell, but now as fast. You definitely have to let me know how you feel after your TR too.
I keep hearing the same thing that what if the TR doesn't do anything, I keep telling everyone that I definitely can't live like this, I have to take the chance. And what if it does help me, then I'll have my life back and I wont have this high blood pressure so I'll be able to live to see my kids grow up, this is actually becoming dangerous if you ask me. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted by Blessings (Member # 9736) on July 28, 2007 05:15 PM: Ladies, I wish you all the best on your upcoming TR's. Any of you that are having them due to PTLS symptoms....trust me you will be so happy that you had the TR. I am a new person back to my pre- TL self and there is so much truth to the fact that having the TL messes with your whole body in ways that really do seem crazy but, rest assure you are NOT !!!!!Blessings,ChristieTR 3/13/06

Hi everyone! I found out today that the pathology report said they took very little of my tubes..not even 1cm...does that mean my tubes are not very long though? And does it make a difference in the size? I know im probably so paranoid..havent heard nothing on the loan yet, im getting impatient...keep your fingers crossed for me I should have an answer tomorrow!

Posted by kwilson (Member # 9288) on :
Hi Kacy,
If Im not mistaken I had less than 1cm removed also. Had my Tr almost 10 days ago and I was left with 6.5R and 4 Id say you have a great chance! Dr Berger is an angel in disguise so have faith. I was in your shoes just last month waiting to hear about loan. Ive got fingers toes and anything else I can cross crossed for u. Good luck! And no you arent too paranoid I think we've all been there!

Posted by christinal (Member # 10504) on :
Kacy I think it depend on who did your TL. My report said he took 1 cm from each side yet I ended up with 2.5 and 5. I think my Dr. folded my tube in half and cut it. I was expecting much longer tubes than I got. Also it depends on which type of TL you had. I had ligation resection. Your's sound good though, so I wouldn't worry at all. I was just glad I had something to work with,

Kacy-
Good luck with your loan. Mine also said 1cm and I ended up with 5.5 & 5. You will LOVE Dr. Berger and his staff... They were the best!!!! No regrets what so ever!!!! The only real problem you will discover is he is the best Dr. you will ever meet and no one else can compare...
Keep us posted and let us know when U schedule...
Lots of Love.

Kacy, unfortunately, I've heard way too often that the reports were erroneous when it comes to figuring your lengths. Don't worry though... there are plenty of short-tubers that get those
BFP's and I see less of them with blocked tubes, so I guess it's a mixed blessing. If you are worried, you can chose to have the LAP done to see what Dr. Berger can do before TR. To be honest, it really depends on WHAT kind of TL you had that mostly determines your tube lengths.

Kacy, I didn't have pathology reports for my TL, but my tubes were coagulated in three places on each tube. Dr.Berger did LAP and was able to continue with reversal . My tube lenghts are L 3.5 & R 5.5 . It's been 5 months since surgery.

Hi, I just had my TR done today. This is my first time posting to any of the boards. I was told that my TL's are 6 and 7 centimeters. My age is still a factor, but I'm praying for God to give us a baby. I believe it's a miracle that TR's are available to women today.
