Dr. Berger detailed statistics on all of his tubal reversal patients include tubal length, age of patient, and type of tubal ligation. Dr. Berger’s patients have had successful pregnancies with all different tubal lengths following tubal reversal surgery. Weekly Pregnancy Reports document the varying ages, types of tubal ligation, and tubal lengths that have led to pregnancies. There is no minimal tubal length required to conceive a healthy pregnancy following tubal reversal surgery.

One lady about 2 weeks ago was age 42 (I think) and she only had 1 tube with was 3 cm...
Anything is possible in God's hands...but woman here are getting pregnant all the time with tubes your length and shorter...
I personally have 3.5 and the left and 5 on the right, so I;m in the same boat PLUS I am 35 years old.. I test to see if I am pregnant this Monday, I am hopeful!

We see pregnancies with all different tubal lengths. It may make you feel better to view the Weekly Pregnancy Reports and see all the pregnancies with tubes similar to yours!

As long as your tubes are open you have a good chance to get pregnant! 4.5 is a nice decent length I think. I have 5 on each and have a tr baby. Alot of Dr's don't see too many of us tr patients and are skeptical. My Dr. freaked out when I came in with my +.

Babydean - It's Marissa from the March 07 thread....I only have one tube and it's 4cm and Dr.B actually implanted the tube into my uterus as there was nothing left to put back together so to speak....and I'm currently 18 weeks and 1 day pg. So not only am I a short tuber but I'm a one tuber and it happened for me.

I'm newer to the board.I wanted to know what brought you to Dr. Berger and brought you on this journey?
The reason why I'm asking is I'm so confused what to do. I want to have the TR for PTLS symptoms but I want another baby too. My lovely DH started me on this journey when he said he often wishes we could of tried again for a boy. Hense my screen name 2girlsmama. Then after I find this wonderful site, and we find out that I'm not crazy and the feelings and symptoms I have are most likely due to PTLS, he decides that our family is complete and doesn't think we should do it to have DC but for my health, and since concluding I would have to do some form of birth control so that I was not pregnant all the time. So he has back down from wanting me to have the TR because he feels we are complete. He also thinks since I would have to be on the BC anyways why have the surgery!
I also just found out my best friend who has been nothing but supportive thru this process is pregnant, and it's funny because her and her DH thought their family was complete!!
I just wanted to see if others were like me struggling to make the decision to either have it or to not. I know it can only be up to me and my DH.Has anyone else's DH felt like they wanted the TR and then changed their mind? Also I take BC pills due to the heavy bleeding which I've been on now for a year, and I was going to try to go off them this month, I skip the normal day I start and immediately felt like crude, bloated.So I took the pills and this whole week I have felt like a bump on a log, nothing interests me, I'm short with my DDs and just want to crawl in hole. I don't know if it is depression or just disappointment in possibly not getting the TR.
Any opinions or stories would be greatly appreciated.

My DH and I have 5 children together and I had the TR surgery due to the PTLS (BEST THING I EVER DID). We did not want anymore children since we have 5 already. Since my surgery I have not taken any precautions not to get pregnant.. we decided if it was God's will for us to have another baby that he will bless in this area , if not then that is okay too.
I feel like my old self before TL and for that it was well worth anything even if I never do have another baby.
I will be turning 40 soon and will take precautions not to get pregnant if I do not get that BFP very soon.
You could always have the surgery and if you later decide to TTC then you will have that option plus, you could help eleviate your PTLS symptoms.

i had my TL when i was 18 yrs old. i had already had 2 children and was in a very bad marriage, so i thought it best. well from then on until TR my periods were awful. always painful, 7 - 10 days long and very,very heavy. i had started looking into TR around the year 2000, b/c of my periods ( my doctor never would put me on the pill, said it was a waste b/c of TL) my husband at the time wouldn't hear of it. he said the period thing was a lie and i was trying to trap him with child support if we split up. needless to say i realized b/c of that and other things we didn't need to be together any longer. i suffered for 5 more years with the terrible pains . in 2005 i meet my soul mate. we discussed more children right off the bat and i explained about the TL and about the TR. he was all for it,after we got married. so we got married 3/7/07 and 5/2/07 we had the TR. he has 7yr old triplets from his 1st marriage and i have 2 teenagers from my 1st marriage. so in a sense we are complete also. we mainly did the TR b/c of my problem, but have since decided to try for more babies. to me if you are already on BC what would it hurt to have the surgery and then stay on them and later if you and DH decide to have more children you can. TR is most definately worth getting rid of PTLS. my periods are now only 3-5 days, alot less painful and no where near as heavy. good luck and best wishes.

I am set to get my TR in March on the 24th.I remember that before my TL I loved getting out and doing things I loved life. After the TL I want to just stay home never get out a lot even though I love the great outdoors. I want to be myself again so I can be a better mom. I understand where you are coming from. My journey begins almost ten years ago. I was 26, having my 4th child, and near the end of my marriage. I now have a wonderful DH, who married me 8 years ago, knowing that I could not have more children. We spoke of reversal early in our marriage, but were not fortunate enough at that time to find Dr. Berger. Suddenly, we began to talk about it again, after I found this web site, and we are both very excited bout the possibility. I have not scheduled the surgery yet, since we need to save the money up, and I also need to lose some weight. I'm 36 now, and feel confident that there is time for me. My kids are thrilled that we're planning this.

I didn't have PTLS, so I can't speak to that, but I can speak to the fear. I, too, was more than a little anxious about ttc again. So many questions and I would waffle back and forth between, yes I want another baby, well maybe that would be too much to add another child?-Always struggling to leave it in God's hands. Anyway, we went through with the surgery and I was soooo nervous because I assumed we would be just as fertile as we were before. I swear He would just breath on me and I would get preggers!!! LOL Well, here I am almost a year post TR (5/1/07) and not one BFP. Oh how I wish I could have the 'problem' of being too fertile!! So my point of all this is- I had nothing to worry about. We don't have to use protection, because it isn't easy for us to conceive anymore. We have to work at it and that seems to be the case for alot of gals here. Though, everyone is not the same and the type of your TL makes a difference. Just thought I'd share our experience. GL

Do Symptoms of Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome Improve After Tubal Reversal?
Tubal Reversal Message Board members disagree with the concept that symptoms that they have experienced since their tubal ligation are "just in their heads". They know that their symptoms are not imaginary and are grateful when their symptoms disappear after tubal reversal surgery.

I'm 33 and I suffer PTLS so bad and have regretted my TL even on the OR table having it done. I just scheduled my surgery for April 11th! I've been saving for the past 3 years and finally able to schedule. Anyway, I didn't have the Parkland TL as you did, but I'm sure someone will chime in and help you with information. Welcome to the board. We have had many patients that have come for surgery for PTLS and most women report an improvement following the surgery. Not only are they feeling better but they also have a chance for another baby if they desire. Dr. Berger has performed the reversal procedure on many women that had a Parkland tubal ligation. I had PTLS SO bad- I too was put on BC pills- didn't help! They did a D&C because of all the bleeding every week- didn't help. They did a lap and when in to see what was wrong- NOTHING the next step they wanted to do was a hystorectomy (sp?) I'm 34- I had my TL in 2000 and have four kids. I didn't know what was wrong with my body but I knew there was something- every DR just told me it was all in my head and there was nothing wrong. I was causing my body to do these things.... YEA Right!!! After 4 years of hopelessness I found Dr. Bergers website.. There was once again hope for me...
Took a year almost two to get the money - last March 9th, 2007 I had my TR and it was the BEST thnig I have ever done!!! The staff there at chapel hill were AWESOME!!! I wish all dr.'s and staff ran their bussinesses that way! They were friendly and caring and made me feel important!
Dr. Berger was amazing!!! HE talked to me and listened-- he didn't think these symptoms were crazy or in my head- He said he has seen several women with the same thing... The whole experience at chapel hill was wonderful!!
I came out with 5.5 on my rigt and 5.0 on left for my tube lengths. The first cycle after my TR was great!!! Then each month I started feeling my body getting back to normal!! Almost all of my PTLS symptoms were gone and I had my sex drive back and my moods were SO much better!!
In Aug-2007 I went in for my HSG to see if my tubes were open because I still hadn't gotten a BFP-- I followed Dr. bergers instructions to a T -- I was driving my Dr. here crazy because I kept saying Dr. Berger says this and Dr. Berger say that (lol) They were both open and the dye flowed prefectly... IN Jan 2008- I got my first BFP (note- I was one of the later ones to get a BFP then the rest of the March 07 girls) I am now due 09-15-08 and thrilled to death!!!
Finding Dr. Berger and going to chapel hill was the best choice ever!!! I even think if I never got a BFP I would have been happy with the results of the PTLS being gone and Dr, Berger believing there was such a thing...

2 girls mama I've had two preganancies, 1 was a MC, which happens. One was an EP I suspect I've had tube width problems on that side, after surgery it was way too skinny. My oldest DD I think had a hang up in that tube, I had repeated Negative preg tests with her and lots of pain on that side, I think just the way my body was made, it's been skinny since birth on that side. So no big deal, they took it out I'm fine. I suspect even without any surgeries I may have had troubles with that tube. My left side is perfect so we are trying again. We are getting excited!!
As far as PTLS my periods now instead of being 9-14 days long, they are now 5 days long.
The exhaustion and pain all month are GONE!!
I've got normal PMS nothing unbearable.
For PTLS it works. I can obviously get pregnant and we will be trying again soon.
Even with the MC and EP I know I've made the right choice getting TR. It's really changed my life I feel alot better now.
Even down to being warmer I used to be cold all of the time, I'm warmer now... It improves symtoms you would'nt think were, or notice until they are gone. Kind of amazing really.
They've tried for years to put me on BC I've even had hysterectomy offered due to the pain...
I've held out, NO pills nothing. I'm glad I did, TR was the answer. It works. I don't know how or why, someday technology will tell us why i'm sure.
There is risk involved but even after everything we've had happen I have to say I'm 100% still completely happy with my choice!!! I wouldn't change a thing.
PTLS is NOT in your head, we can say it to you but I guarantee you'll see after you get surgery. The bleeding I was having was completely out of control it was like hemmoragging every month and now it's at a good normal AF. Like I was before TL.
You'll probably still have some PMS that is normal you are supposed to it means your ovaries are working! But near bleeding to death every month the horrible pain, is just intolerable, Becki I know how it was for you it was the same for me over the top and dysfunctional to say the least.
Thank GOD for Dr. Berger. He is the best!! He changed my life for the better.
2 girls mama at 31??? Seriously... that's the thing you have to question, I know I did that's how I found Dr. Berger. I'm 35. There's just a point where it doesn't make sense anymore. The logic isn't there. It could happen, but not in the numbers it is, there is obviously a link between TL and PTLS.
You've come to the right place.
I also am with Becki, even if we don't have a baby, the PTLS relief is so incredible that I honestly don't care, I know it's horrible to say with everyone TTC, but it is true.

It is so nice to know I'm not alone.I thought I was going crazy.I feel like I'm mean for no reason at all.I just want to cry sometimes, it is like it comes out of nowhere.I thank God for my DH speaking up, were on the fence about another child, but when I saw the posts about the PTLS I felt like a big weight had been lifted off me.Some of my concerns are what are the risks? As my DH says I don't want to lose you.It makes me so mad that the doctors who do these TLs are allowed to not tell us the risks.Thank God for Dr.Berger and his staff.

With any surgery there is risk involved- BUT I can tell you this- I have had 6 laps, a TL, TR and my apendix taken out--
This was by far the easiest surgery I have ever had.. They are that good there!!!
My TL was horrible and hurt for several days--
With my Tr I remember getting on the bed and Dr. Berger coming in and said HI said something to the nurses and the next time I knew they were waking me up-- I was SO tired but the asked me how the pain was and I really didn't have any I just wanted to sleep. Dr Berger came in and told me how the surgery went - and my lenghts, I drank a juice box-- IT WAS SO YUMMY!!! Went back to the hotel and slept most the day - I really didn't feel any pain- I did take my med on time and the next day the nurse came in and checked me-- I then drove 7 hours to get home and once I was home I didn't need to take any more meds..
I felt very relaxed and comforted at chapel hill, I knew I was where I was supposed to be and all would be well!!!
I just wish I would find a dr. and staff like Dr. Berger and his staff- They really spoiled me! Now I have high expectations as the service I should get (lol)
My DH was not sure too- he thought it was all a scam and was pretty worried I would have something go wrong or get an infection- you never know about Dr's these days-- But once I had my consult and we met the staff and the care, then Meeting Dr. Berger my DH was impressed just as much as I was and he told me he had a good feeling about this!!!
You know after I go PG and the blood draws and all that protocal - MY DH still says do what ever Dr. Berger suggests because that is what is best!!!!
MY first numbers were 10,333 and the dr. office would not do an ultra sound because they said it was still to early and they wouldn't see anything - dr. Berger says you can at 1500-2500 so we talked about it and my DH said what would Dr. Berger suggest you do-- I said go to the ER
And off we went-- They did teh ultra sound an sure enough you could see the sac and yoke...
I'm tell you - This is the best place you could ever ask for- Dr. Berger is hands down the best DR in the world. I know you and your DH will love him too!!!!

I'm 33 and I suffer PTLS so bad and have regretted my TL even on the OR table having it done. I just scheduled my surgery for April 11th! I've been saving for the past 3 years and finally able to schedule. Anyway, I didn't have the Parkland TL as you did, but I'm sure someone will chime in and help you with information. Again, welcome to the board and read up as much info as you can here. LOL

Welcome to the board. We have had many patients that have come for surgery for PTLS and most women report an improvement following the surgery. Not only are they feeling better but they also have a chance for another baby if they desire. Dr. Berger has performed the reversal procedure on many women that had a Parkland tubal ligation. I had PTLS SO bad- I too was put on BC pills- didn't help! They did a D&C because of all the bleeding every week- didn't help. They did a lap and when in to see what was wrong- NOTHING the next step they wanted to do was a hystorectomy (sp?) I'm 34- I had my TL in 2000 and have four kids. I didn't know what was wrong with my body but I knew there was something- every DR just told me it was all in my head and there was nothing wrong. I was causing my body to do these things.... YEA Right!!! After 4 years of hopelessness I found Dr. Bergers website.. There was once again hope for me...
Took a year almost two to get the money - last March 9th, 2007 I had my TR and it was the BEST thnig I have ever done!!! The staff there at chapel hill were AWESOME!!! I wish all dr.'s and staff ran their bussinesses that way! They were friendly and caring and made me feel important!
Dr. Berger was amazing!!! HE talked to me and listened-- he didn't think these symptoms were crazy or in my head- He said he has seen several women with the same thing... The whole experience at chapel hill was wonderful!!
I came out with 5.5 on my rigt and 5.0 on left for my tube lengths. The first cycle after my TR was great!!! Then each month I started feeling my body getting back to normal!! Almost all of my PTLS symptoms were gone and I had my sex drive back and my moods were SO much better!!
In Aug-2007 I went in for my HSG to see if my tubes were open because I still hadn't gotten a BFP-- I followed Dr. bergers instructions to a T -- I was driving my Dr. here crazy because I kept saying Dr. Berger says this and Dr. Berger say that (lol) They were both open and the dye flowed prefectly... IN Jan 2008- I got my first BFP (note- I was one of the later ones to get a BFP then the rest of the March 07 girls) I am now due 09-15-08 and thrilled to death!!!
Finding Dr. Berger and going to chapel hill was the best choice ever!!! I even think if I never got a BFP I would have been happy with the results of the PTLS being gone and Dr, Berger believing there was such a thing...

2 girls mama I've had two preganancies, 1 was a MC, which happens. One was an EP I suspect I've had tube width problems on that side, after surgery it was way too skinny. My oldest DD I think had a hang up in that tube, I had repeated Negative preg tests with her and lots of pain on that side, I think just the way my body was made, it's been skinny since birth on that side. So no big deal, they took it out I'm fine. I suspect even without any surgeries I may have had troubles with that tube. My left side is perfect so we are trying again. We are getting excited!!
As far as PTLS my periods now instead of being 9-14 days long, they are now 5 days long.
The exhaustion and pain all month are GONE!!
I've got normal PMS nothing unbearable.
For PTLS it works. I can obviously get pregnant and we will be trying again soon.
Even with the MC and EP I know I've made the right choice getting TR. It's really changed my life I feel alot better now.
Even down to being warmer I used to be cold all of the time, I'm warmer now... It improves symtoms you would'nt think were, or notice until they are gone. Kind of amazing really.
They've tried for years to put me on BC I've even had hysterectomy offered due to the pain...
I've held out, NO pills nothing. I'm glad I did, TR was the answer. It works. I don't know how or why, someday technology will tell us why i'm sure.
There is risk involved but even after everything we've had happen I have to say I'm 100% still completely happy with my choice!!! I wouldn't change a thing.
PTLS is NOT in your head, we can say it to you but I guarantee you'll see after you get surgery. The bleeding I was having was completely out of control it was like hemmoragging every month and now it's at a good normal AF. Like I was before TL.
You'll probably still have some PMS that is normal you are supposed to it means your ovaries are working! But near bleeding to death every month the horrible pain, is just intolerable, Becki I know how it was for you it was the same for me over the top and dysfunctional to say the least.
Thank GOD for Dr. Berger. He is the best!! He changed my life for the better.
2 girls mama at 31??? Seriously... that's the thing you have to question, I know I did that's how I found Dr. Berger. I'm 35. There's just a point where it doesn't make sense anymore. The logic isn't there. It could happen, but not in the numbers it is, there is obviously a link between TL and PTLS.
You've come to the right place.
I also am with Becki, even if we don't have a baby, the PTLS relief is so incredible that I honestly don't care, I know it's horrible to say with everyone TTC, but it is true.

Using Clomid After Tubal Reversal
Occassionally, Dr. Berger's patients ask about the use of Clomid and other follicle-stimulating medications after Tubal Reversal Surgery. These medications should always be used with caution in any woman trying to conceive. While not contraindicated after tubal reversal surgery, they should be used under a doctor's supervision and only if there is a documented need for ovulation induction. Because use of follicle-stimulationg medications require supervision by a women's local OBGYN doctor, Dr. Berger does not prescribe these medications for his tubal reversal patients.

I am by no means an expert since this is my first cycle doing injectables but I will try to give you the run down.
The injects stimulate your ovaries to produce eggs---how many eggs you produce depends on how well you respond to the stims and how much you take. In my case, my RE wants me to produce no more than 3 eggs so that I am not faced with high order multiples.
You typically inject yourself every evening for 7-14 days depending on yhow well you respond to the stims. Then once your eggies are mature you receive an HCG trigger shot which will force your ovaries to release the mature eggs--thus making you ovulate.....which is around 36 hours after trigger.
I started all this on CD3 with labwork---E2 and FSH then my RE called me that evening with the amount of stims I was suppose to use that night.....150units. I am to take 150units each evening until Saturday when I go fro more bloodwork and a follicle scan. The labs and US will tell him how well I am responding to the stims and he will tweak my dose of stims accordingly. I will have more labs and another scan on Monday and go from there. Once my follicles become mature (hopefully I will have 2 or 3) He will give me a trigger shot and I will go home and BD like bunnies with DH---lmao!!!

It can depend on the medication. With injectables there is close monitoring that it involved. Vaginal ultrasounds are begun early in the cycle along with blood work to monitor your response to the medications and to adjust as needed. Femera is a medication that is approved for use for the treatment of breast cancer in post-menopausal women. Some doctors prescribe it as a fertility drug, although this is "off label" or a non-approved use of the medication since it induces ovulation in pre-menopausal women. leading I am not aware of any published studies on the possible long term affects of using Femara as a fertility drug. There have been some case reports of babies born with birth defects to women who have used Femera to induce ovulation. It is not clear at present whether Femera caused these defects or not.
The safer approach, in my opinion, is to use the lowest dose of Clomid (starting with 25 mg or one-half tablet) that induces ovulation as documented with an OPK, and then add a small amount of additional estrogen (such as Premarin 0.3 mg a day cycle days 10 through the day of the LH surge) to help stimulate cervical mucus production. Of course, if ovulation is occurring spontaneously, then no ovulation inducing medication should be used at all.

Passing by to say hello and to check up on how everyone is doing with clomid.
I wanted you guys to know how I was coming along on my second cycle of Clomid.
I was originally scheduled for an U/S tomorrow Wednesday but since Sunday I was feeling ovulation cramps so I call the RE and he had my come in Monday afternoon instead.
Thank God I had two big follicles 22/21.5 on my right side. YAY YAY ladies that is the side Dr. Berger was able to repair. That same day the doctor had me trigger shot and today we went in for the #1 IUI and I have to go tomorrow for #2 IUI because I should be ovulating by tonight or tomorrow.
Ladies I ask for plenty of prayers and baby dust. HEHEHE I begin the frustrating 2WW on Thursday.

Hi Girls! Sorry I've been MIA. I have been really busy. Just wanted to say hello to you girls. I'm now on CD 32 and tested with BFN, but the tests that I have I recieved from earlypregnancy tests dot com, and also used in OPKing. My OPK only showed 1 day in the positive;however, my progesterone was 26 on CD 20. I believe that cold might have something to do with the tests, and with all the money I have spent on tests, I am not going to the store to buy any more as of yet. My doc's office told me that if I did not have AF by tomorrow to come in for a blood draw. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Talk to you later.

Ladies, I'm not not part of this thread per sae but I figured this would be a great place to ask my question... I took my last clomid pill on Monday night. Tuesday already I was getting alot of lotiony/ewcm (tmi). I did an opt last night and while there was a line, it wasn't the same as the control line. Has anyone ever O'd that early on clomid?.. I mean my last pill was only 2 days ago but all signs are starting to show. Last cycle I got a +OPT about 5 days later than what I was expecting so now I'm really confused. TIA for letting me butt in.. I hope you ladies can give me some advice and info...

I am new to the boards, 3 years past TR. DH and I started taking fertil+male and fertil+female made by Total Health Enhancements it was orinally a horse supplement. Their success rate is 70% for ages 35-46. Anyone using supplements? My dr discussed possible drugs but I have been ovulating normally, but my age is getting up there!

All I know is this: when I am not sure of stuff, I BD anyway. That way I don't miss the chance. Are you temping? I know that unless there is a male factor involved (low sperm count), you can BD everyday.

This was my second cycle of clomid and thank god I O'ed around the same time as usual. The only bad side effects were the night sweats and headaches.

Good advice Carla.. now only if I could get DH on board to BD every day.. that's a chore each month as so as it is. He tells me he's too old to go like that every night He's only 43. I sure hate to see what he's like in 7 more years when he hits the big 50!!!

Im sorry to bump in on this post but I just wanted to say that if my DH acts as though he might die because he has to be on a schedule for TTC, I think I might have to smack him.. Especially since right now, before TR, he is constantly wanting it all the time......He should be so happy when my PTLS is over with and I actually want to have sex. Shannon, It's funny but yet it's not.. DH thinks he "knows" when we should BD. When I say "time to BD" he asks when I got a +opt and then proceeds to calculate exactly what days would be best. Me on the other hand, I take my temps (not faithfully though), use OPK's, KNOW my body and the signs it gives me and then say "ok we're BDing the next 5 days like it or not." Poor guy, by the end of that 5 days he's completely worn out!! SO that's why he trys to pinpoint O on his own, so he won't be "tired & worn out."
I laughed when you said that about hockey tickets because I actually work part-time for an entertainment company and I work alot of AHL hockey games (GO BEARS!!!)
Unfortunately, my hubby isn't a sports fan (he's into anything automobile related) so I couldn't entice him with hockey tickets, which would be easy for me.

Good Morning ladies.
I finished my first round of clomid Tues. I have been feeling what I believe to be very light O pains and CM is wet. I am on CD10. I do take temps and use OPK. So far temps are crazy maybe it the hotflashes during the night and OPK is(-)
Dr told us to BD CD11, CD13, CD15. Hopefully I will O as normal.

Regarding DH and BD: I took him to the RE with me and he got a better understand since he was able to ask all of his questions and voice concerns.

I am also CD10. First cycle of Clomid. My OPK was positive this morning, but I am thinking that Sherri said that you can get false positives while using Clomid. My temps took a dip which is what I usually do right before I O. I feel like I may be, cm is wet also. Hmmm...everything I read says you O 5-9 days after your last pill???

We have been trying for over a year now. We had an ectopic in December of 2006 and nothing since. I think I stopped ovulating after the methotrexate shot for a few months. So, the reason we are doing it is three fold, I am 43 time is ticking, possibly not ovulating (according to my dr, but I think I am), and it is the last thing we will try. We are going to quit trying in June of this year.
Why did you decide to try it Vicky?

Sure you can join us! The more the merrier! I was scared too. I didn't want to do any of that stuff. It affected me more when I took it in the morning. I would advise you to take it at night, that way you sleep through some of the side effects, if you even have any. Some women don't have any at all.

Welcome wanting. This was my 1st round on 50mg Clomid CD3-CD7. I took it after lunch each day. The first day I felt weird and very light headed. The other days no side affect. Like most women I was scared also.
I am 38 - TR 5/07. DH and I informed DR we wanted to take an aggressive approach. Found out with the follicle test that my eggs were not maturing enough so he put me on clomid. Prior months he thought nothing was wrong bcuz of my charts. hmmm could have been the December stress. Hopefully this month eggs will mature and BD timing is right.
Carla, I asked because looking at your chart your LP seemed short at times. It seems as though a lot of women their BFP when after they stopped trying or reached their cutoff time. We are in prayer.

I took an OPT last night and got a line but it's not anywhere close to the control line. I've been having alot of pressure and pains in my pelvic and back, kinda feels like my belly is stuffed with something and is trying to squeeze out!!!
I'm not getting an U/S and I'm kinda worried because the last time I took the 50mg dose CD3-7 I developed OHSS and produced 6 cysts. The RE could tell I O'd but couldn't tell how many eggs I released. I'm taking a chance this month and hope I don't live to regret it. That month, DH and I didn't BD because we had an arguement but I told him that regardless of what happens he's BDing even if I have to rough him up
Carla and Shannon, keep me posted. I'd love it if we'd all get PG this cycle and all go on to deliver babies (and all around the same time). How awesome would that be!!!!

DH was worried that I am using clomid. He said that because he knows women are born with a set amount of eggs and if I'm wasting up to 6 eggs a cycle using clomid, he's worried that my supply will run out and I'll go thru menopause early (I'm 36 yrs old). I told him I didn't think I'd worry about that at this point but he does bring up a very interesting question. I wonder if anyone has ever discussed that with their RE.. If they have I hope we hear those answers, I'd be shock to find out I "ran out" of eggs!!!
Oh BTW, I'm definitely using Preseed this time. I'm not taking any chances on the CM thing. Anyone else using it??

I have the preseed, I just haven't been using it, b/c I didn't think I would be O'ing this early. Maybe I am not, maybe it was b/c of the clomid in my system still.
I hope I don't till after Sunday. We are going to my mother in law and father in laws in Columbus this weekend... Can't be BDing there! It is just a little condo..
According to my ovulation calendar I should be gearing up to O this week!!!! I sure hope this clomid works.. The way I've been feeling lately, I must have a number of eggies ready to leave the nest!!

Sherri--I hope the Clomid does the trick for you. Is your doc not monitoring you with US around O time??? It seems like you REALLY need one since you developed OHSS before.
Veronica--Sorry your injectable cycle didn't work. I hope you get your BFP with the higher dose. I too am going to get a higher dose next cycle if this one doesn't work.
As for me---9DPO and I tested my trigger out-so now I will probably tet for real in the morning which is still ery early for me at 10DPO. I typically don't get a BFP until atleast 13DPO but they have all been m/c's. I am hoping that if I can get an early BFP, then it may be my keeper baby.

Andrea, no my Dr doesn't even know I took the clomid this cycle. She very adament about me doing IVF that I just gave up on going to her and decided to do things on my own. I think I'll be ok this cycle because I don't feel sickly like I did in June when I developed OHSS. I was sick for over 2 weeks and my pelvic area felt like a huge balloon was blown up inside of me. Not the case this time.. even though I do feel some action going on down there. I'm just frustrated because I've been OPKing for 4 days now and NO positives yet. My ovulation calendar says this weekend but I honestly don't trust that. I read on the internet that you should consider the first day you take clomid as your CD1 and then test on CD12-15. Does anyone agree with that???

Can I join you guys? I start 100 mgs of clomid tonight. This is my last ditch effort. I went to a re 21/2 hours away to try to get injectables. He said i had to have at least 4 or 5 antral follicles per ovary to get them. Well I had 2. I don't realy think the clomid will do anything for me ( I'm 44) but said I would try for a year. Last time on 50, I didn't O and had a hard time with the OPK's. I started testing too soon maybe? Cd 10...When should I sytart testing? I hate wasting them. I also got false positives, cause I got a + on cd 10 and then again on cd 20. WTH? Can someone tell me when to start testing as to not waste them but to get a true picture of the + I appreciate it.

I hope others will chime in to answer your question about the RE. I began seeing an RE because of recurrent miscarriage and he started with a battery of tests for me.
I would think any reputable RE would start by doing CD 3 bloodwork like FSH---to show your egg reserve. Another good test to have is CD21 Progesterone to see if you are ovulating. Other than that, I am not sure.
Be sure to write down a list of questions to ask him/her while there. Believe me--once you get in there and he/she starts talking medical mumbo jumbo, you will get all confused and forget what you wanted to say.

I am concerned that you say you are taking Clomid without medical supervision. Clomid is a prescription drug that should be taken under a doctor's close supervision. If you are not comfortable with your current doctor, please find a different doctor to work with. There are risks involved with taking Clomid and it seems counterproductive to subject yourself to unneccessary risk. In addition, dosing yourself without appropriate follow-up with blood tests and ultrasound could mean you are not getting a therapeutic dose. There is a reason these drugs are prescription and require a doctor's care.

Sherri G. I, like you, am not really being monitored. She just told me that if I have any heavy pain to call her. I would be worried if I were you! You already had the OHSS. It doesn't seem good that you are not getting U/S or something.
No, I had not heard that about considering the first day of clomid cd 1. I just heard that you should ovulate 5-9 days after you are done with your last pill. Today is day five for me. Hopefully soon!!

Welcome aboard Tina. This was my 1st round of 50mg Clomid (CD 3-7). I temp every morning and started using OPK on CD8 (between 5-7pm). I finally got a + on CD13. The same morning my temp dropped (yes, am baby dance). I am on CD14 and my temp increased dramatically. Hopefully I O'd yesterday.
If correct I O'd 6 days after last Clomid pill.

Baby Dean- I do not see an RE. My dr specialize in fertility so I stayed with him. I have only done HSG and follicle exam. Started Clomid because my eggs did not mature enough in size.
Just make sure you find someone you are comfortable with.

Weird - CD13 Morning BD I had no problem but the second time (Night)I felt alot of pressure and was not as moist. This is a new experience for me also. We BD every other day so we will see tonight.
As I stated yesterday, CD13 temp dip 96.98, CD14 skyrocket up 97.92, and now CD15 dropped 97.52. So I do not know if I actually O'd still waiting to confirm. Also CM has changed back to Creamy.
The hardest thing for me is there is no guideline, model, or consistancy. It would be easier if the sign were more concrete.
Carla keep testing I know you started Clomid a couple of days after me.

CD 15 and still NO +OPK.. what the heck is going on here!! I've been feeling pains like I should be Oing for the past few days but still the sticks show a light line. I even went out and bought another brand and tested twice lastnight thinking MAYBE I'd get a different result. Guess I'll just have to BD every other day to be sure!!!
Carla, it looks like you and I are going to be in a pickle if we both O this weekend, you're at your in-laws and my DH is at a mens retreat for church. The only good thing is, it's close by so he was already instructed that if need be, he will be finding a way to come home to BD!! Just imagine him telling the others that he had to go home to "service" his wife. (that's his term for BDing during O time)
I also wanted to add that I too have felt the same feelings you have before. I wonder if it's a low cervix causing the feeling?
Thanks ladies for being concerned, I appreciate it. I didn't think it was totally necessary to have an U/S if you were using clomid. (I had posted a question on here before and got that conscensus). If I thought my health was in danger, I definitely would call my RE and tell her I took it this cycle. She'd be ok with it because she told me before that if I changed my mind it was not a problem.

I don't mind BDing every other day but I need to be on progesterone so its very hard to determine when to start if I don't know when I ovulated. WHY does this seem so hard now. I knew exactly when to test for O and exactly when to BD now after my 3 M/C's in a row, my cycle is SO screwed up I don't know whether I'm coming or going... Maybe I will O late because of the darn clomid... Who knows anymore!!

I thought since my temp went up on up, down, and back up that maybe I O'd on yesterday instead of CD13. FF stated that I O'd on CD13. I BD on both days. Wish me luck. CM agrees with CD13. Tell me what you think.

I noticed with my first round that when I "o'd" I had more pain than normal and when my cycle came, the first day was really, really crampy. I didn't get a peak on my CBFM, but I did get one of the sticks that I sometimes use as a backup. I understand that Clomid can throw the CBFM off sometimes. I am on day 3 of clomid and go back Friday for my mid cycle U/S to make sure the follicles responded to the meds. Last time I had my prog test at DPO7 and it came back at 43.2 which the RE said was incredible. But it wasn't incredible enough for me to get pregnant - go figure.
So we're off and running with this cycle and we'll keep our fingers crossed!.

Nicole, thanks for the concern. I did develop OHSS in June. I was on 50mg of clomid CD3-7. I had 6 cysts on my ovaries. Two were very large. I was sick for close to 2 weeks and had to be monitored via U/S and internal for a month to make sure the cysts went away on their own (which they did) I know I am taking a huge risk doing this on my own. I haven't been sick like I was in June, I've just been having alot of O type pains the past few days. The RE I was seeing (who every other woman raves about) doesn't think post TR conception will work for me since my tube lengths are 4. and 2. She referred me to do IVF and basically said she sees no reason to treat me. I went to another one and he said the same darn thing. I'm running out of Dr's in the area!!!

Send your operative reports to Dr.B and you will be able to find out if you are a good candidate for surgery.The type of TL that you have had has a lot of successful pregnancies.(on the weekly pregnancy lists) The great thing about TR is that you can try every month without the expense of IVF.

Hi Kate, I had the same thing done (called a modified pomeroy). I got a BFP two months after TR but it ended in miscarriage at 10 weeks due to chromosomal abnormality. I have had a long year since then and haven't been able to try the whole time, but I am currently 5 weeks pregnant as of tomorrow. I ended up with 7cm on each side. Dr. Berger is very good at what he does. I would rather know I have a shot each and every month than pay $10,000 for a gamble per month, not to mention the toll on your body from all the fertility drugs and trauma to your ovaries.

I have a second question.....I have not cycled in 7 months ( my TL was in 2004) and Im wondering if this would affect my chances of a successful TR or if this is even something to worry about. My gyn dr say that it is just from stress....trust me, I have a 3 yr old and a 4 yr old but I am not that stressed....what does everyone else think about this? She wanted to give me Depo to make my body cycle but I refused....any comments? [Confused]

After my TL my cycle messed all up. It has not been normal after the TL. I did the shot no help and then did pills for away and still no help. Could be stress that does happen but the foods you are eating could too. If you are not taking in everything your body needs your cycle could stop. Pray about it and hang in there cause some times it helps to know your not alone. I went all most 7 months was the longs for me.

Pregnant At Age 44 Following Tubal Reversal Surgery With Dr. Berger
A member of the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center Message Board posts "I was a member here several years ago. I had my reversal done by Dr. Berger 3 years ago. I had all but given up hope but now I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant at the age of 44!" Many times women age 40 or over who have had tubal ligation are encouraged to undergo IVF with donor egg due to their age. Tubal Reversal surgery with Dr. Berger gives women of any age the chance to conceive a child naturally. In a study performed by Dr. Berger, pregnancy rates after tubal reversal were higher than after IVF within every age group. Similarly, birth rates were higher after tubal reversal at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center than after IVF for women of all ages and the differences increased with increasing maternal age.

Hello everyone. I have been watching this site for over 6 months while planning to have a tubal reversal but this is my first time writing in. My doctor here in Florida also highly recommended Dr. Berger, I've been in touch with the office but I started to do a little research on my own and looked at some other doctors. I requested some information from a doctor in Kentucky. Being a nurse myself I was surprised and impressed when my phone rang one day and it was [the doctor] himself. Something doctors don't do very often. I thought it was a good sign of caring and confidence. If anyone can help me make my final decision, whether its a past patient, nurse or Dr. Berger himself I would appreciate it. I mainly want to know what the difference between the two doctors methods are and how responsible they hold themselves and their work to results after the patient has paid for and gone through the procedure.

too was on [the other doctor's] site (for a short time), the reason I lurked, but didn't participate was 2 fold,
1. I really felt like everyone was worshipping him, it felt funny, like he was a deity or something, I would prefer a little more modesty. And the other reason was that I REALLY respect Dr. Berger because he POSTS EVERYTHING, the good, the bad, the ugly....I feel like he holds NOTHING back. I see EVERY statistic, he keeps records of every possible variation, as though he was constantly conducting research. [The other doctor] is all sunshine and roses and we as mothers know that if something seems to good be to be true, it probably is. I can't trust someone who doesn't disclose everything.
2.I also preferred the "staff" here. The nurses are friendly, helpful, and ACTUALLY wanting to help you have a baby.
OH I need to add a few more reasons (sorry, the more I think the more I realize).
3. I found Dr. Berger on the OneMoreSoul.com site, he WANTS to help bring about a new soul, it's not all about the money for him. He cares about he souls he helps to produce. Just the fact that he knows a soul is involved is amazing.
4. For number 4 I wanted to include all the little reasons that matter but not as much, the price, the helpfulness of the site, he is doctor recommended, he works WITH our current doctors before during and after, and his staff is SOOO Smart and they are willing to share all their knowledge.
Hope this helps... It doesn't mater to me who you pick, I just found myself in your shoes and I wanted to words to my decision.

Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is the only medical facility specifically for tubal ligation reversal surgery. We provide the most detailed information about tubal reversal available from any doctor, hospital, or medical institution. This blog post describes how we are able to do this.
Keeping track of patients following surgery makes excellent sense from a clinical point of view. Continuing follow-up after surgery helps ensure the best care for each patient and allows us to evaluate the success of tubal reversal surgery and the care we provide. Setting up and maintaining a system to ensure ongoing follow-up is not usually found in a private medical practice since this is costly and time-consuming and requires staff knowledgeable in database management. Regardless of the cost and time requirement, Dr. Berger has made it a priority because of his commitment to giving patients all of the information they should have in order to make an informed decision about tubal reversal surgery.
At Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, we have a computer system where every nurse enters patient information before, during, and after each surgery. In fact, all 11 of our nurses contact patients, record data and make daily entries into computerized records.
With this follow-up information, Dr. Berger can analyze and report accurate statistical data about the long-term outcomes of tubal reversal procedures he has performed. Other doctors often quote our statistics -- but they cannot provide information on their own since they are not able (or willing) to go to the time and expense of collecting their own data!
The patient follow-up system consists of information collected in many different ways and includes a minimum of 6 calls or e-mails to the patient in the first year following surgery.

Other information is collected and recorded any time we communicate with patients post-operatively. These contacts are usually initiated by patients to report pregnancies and the outcomes of pregnancies. When patients report new pregnancies, we request that they complete a Pregnancy Report Form. Each week, we summarize the new pregnancy results in the Weekly Pregnancy Report Forum of the Tubal Reversal Message Board and also give more details in the Weekly Pregnancy Announcements.
After reading our information and statistics and comparing it to what might be available from other doctors, we believe patients will recognize that Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is the only facility where accuracy of information is considered to be a priority and sharing it with prospective patients is considered to be a necessity. Providing facts rather than offering misleading or speculative statements about tubal reversal success is one mission of our practice. We believe this is the right thing to do.

I began researching TR doctors about 7 or 8 years ago and my search ended when I found Dr Berger. It just feels right!! Not only will you find amazing support from Dr B and his staff, but the ladies on this board are all very supportive and informative. I just couldn't imagine going anywhere else.

I wanted to add a little something to this post that helped me make my decision. I also researched the Doctor in KY. He charges extra of you are overweight. Dr. Berger just plain old won't operate because it isn't safe regarding anethesia. I am not overweight, so that wasn't an issue, but it made HUGE warning bells go off in my head that a doctor would essentially perform elective surgery on someone where it wasn't necessarily the safest. he also wanted pictures of you in bra and panties to assess your weight. Ummm....how about HECK NO!!!
I felt that in the KY docs literature that he was bashing Dr.Berger's surgical technique. (and really it was a roundabout way to bash Dr.Berger himself.) I don't feel that anyone should have to bring someone else down to raise themselves up. It just isn't right.
The other doctor includes all pregnancies into his statistics, including those achieved by IVF. Umm...that isn't the same thing. If I wanted to achieve pregnancy by IVF, I would have gone that route to begin with. If I remember correctly, the other doctor offered IVF if the TR didn;t work. That's all well and good, but I live in NY, so I certainly wouldn't be traveling to KY to have that done.
Anyway, I had my TR is 2004 and I really felt that Dr. Berger cared about me. He also cared about my reasons for wanting the surgery. His staff was beyond excellent. My TR baby is 2, so I know for sure the surgery works! HTH!

well u get there and check in and then u go back and have ur wieght and hieght done ,and i think blood pressure if i remember and then u get a transvaginal ultra sound to visualize ovarys and stuff and then they shave you...and u have a one on one talk with dr. b and asks u why u want more children and things like that ,it realy is not a big deal at all and u also talk with anastisa..lol..i cant spell it but hope u get it...and thats it....u will be fine ladies he is great so is his staff,u will feel right at home..

in my opinon there wasnt nothing terribly painful about any part of it ,not even the tr itself...it was the easiest surgery i ever had ,the most painful part for me was the iv ..lol..i just hate needles ...but im sure u will do fine just relax..i was worried before mine too and all for nothing

Im hearing that give a numbing medicine before they put the IV in? I'm worrying about the trip back on the plane. Im worried about the type of scale they weigh you on. Im hoping its digital. Also, im bringing my husband and my daughter (they are both post-surgical LPN's ) and I have to split them up for appointments. One for the consult and one for the surgery. I wish they could both be there.

Springbatch if your worried about the plane trip home you need to do what my husband did he informed the boarding ladies that i had just had surg. the day before and they let me and my husband get on the plane 1st and get seated that way knowone ran into me and they also had a wheel chair waiting for me once we landed ( even though
i ended up giving to to a young girl with cancer who was in more pain than me)..Hope this helps.

This all helps guys. Although the slide bar scales are not as accurate as the digital, I will have to go with the flow. Thanks for the info. on talking to the Airline, I didn\'t think of that and that is exactly what I'm worried about. Getting shoved and pushed around the airport and getting on the plane. Its also a long walk to the terminal. My mind is racing 1000 miles a minute anticipating my surgery next week. I really am excited.

I had to lose weight for my TR. I was so nervous that I'd get there and the scales would be different and I'd have to cancel my surgery. I went to walmart and had a digital scale here at home that I weighed on at least twice a day. Well the day of my consultation I weighed before I left home and when I got to chapel hill their scale was exactly the same as mine at home. I think it's pretty accurate. Just make sure you have your exact height because I thought I was 5'5, but no I'm 5'4 and 3/4inch and it made a difference on my BMI. There are no words to explain how comfortable the staff will make you feel. It's like you're part of the family and they're welcoming you in. Hoping for long, wide open tubes and a speedy recovery for you ladies who are about to go.

Wow, now I'm wondering if my doctors office rounds up with my height. I'm 5' 8". But what if i'm like you and it comes out to be 5' 7 3/4. Also, on a digital scale it will show if you are 155.5 or 156. 156 can put you over the BMI and 155.5 can put you right at where you need to be. Its really scary. On many scales there is a 3 pound variance. My main worry is that I would normally start my period on the 14th which is the day of my surgery and I'm worried about retaining water because of it. My period can take me up by 5 pounds )-:

OH yes and they weigh you with all your clothes on. If I remember right I had to take my shoes off for the height measurement. I think it's cutting it close if you're only within your BMI by a few ounces and maybe it would be a good idea to lose a few extra pounds just to be on the safe side. I know My max weight could be 207, and I lost down to 197 just to be on the safe side. I also was still so paranoid that I wouldn't drink anything the morning before I had my final weigh in until after I got off those scales. I had an early consultation the day before my surgery and went straight for mexican food once we were done weighing in. It was so yummy after all that work to get down within the BMI limit. And the vaginal u/s isn't uncomfortable, what hurt the worst during my entire process is when I was being shaved the razor nicked my skin and it pinched me. Ouch! And leave it to Kathy to put a sparkly band aid on it for me, my DH about died laughing when we got back to the hotel and I showed him my diva band aid. LOL.

Thanks so much Pam: I am really trying to relax about all this. There are just so many scenario's that could occur that could stop my surgery from happening and Im having trouble not focusing on it. Im traveling a long distance to get there and I feel like I could lose everything I worked for over 1 pound. I'm scheduled to start my AF on Friday, december 14 (day of my surgery) Im a wreck thinking my weight will be fluctuating all over the place because of that. I normally take Midol PMS for 2 or 3 days before I start but, I'm not taking anything at all because of my surgery. If my surgery is cancelled, the journey is over for me, I couldnt do this again (emotionally or financially). Its a once in a lifetime chance and Im praying constantly that all goes well. Im flying in 2 days before my surgery just to give myself a chance to relax and not worry about delayed flights or being late for consultation, and youre right, the ladies on this forum are fantastic. They are all so supportive and they validate my feelings letting me know I'm not the only person out here with these concerns. I admire so many of them as they have worked so hard to reach the goal, a BFP.

black dress pants and a thin shirt, put your coat on over it til you get inside you can take your coat off and they won't weigh as much as your jeans. Also if it helps and I know it's not the healthest diet. I had alot of weight to lose and I only ate chicken breast and asparagus for a few weeks before my surgery. I cut out all drinks and any other source of sodium that I could think of just to make sure that I wasn't retaining unnecessary water. But the diet I was losing weight like crazy. Now I was taking prenatal vitamins to go along with that just to make sure I was getting enough vitamins, and wouldn't suggest it for a long period of time, but it may give you a boost so that you have some padding on your weight limit and you can relax and enjoy your trip. My wife had her tubal reversal just this week, so it is still pretty fresh for us. We went there on Monday, so the schedule of things may be different on other days.
She was very nervous; we drove down - an eleven hour drive - not sure what to expect. While there are countless messages on the board detailing great experiences, the fear of showing up and discovering either a second-rate facility or a scam were still in the back of our minds.
She was also nervous about "making weight," even though she was not even close to the BMI cutoff; my dear wife likes to fret over everything [Smile]
We met the shuttle van at the lobby of the Sheraton at 6:45; Doctor Berger's facility is only 5 minutes down the road.
When we pulled in, the courtyard gate was unlocked and open. We made our way up the stairs to the second floor, and the receptionist was ready and waiting; the waiting room up there looks like a very cozy, large, well appointed living room.
My wife got the luck of the draw and was first, so it was a very efficient, streamlined process. First up was blood pressure, height and weight. All went well, and we immediately met with Doctor Berger. He is professional, courteous, and yes, asked why we chose this. He didn't seem judgmental about age or weight; he seemed genuinely committed to giving my wife back her reproductive rights to the best of his ability.
After that was the vaginal ultrasound; my wife preferred for me to be present; it was about 10 minutes total, minimally invasive, and yes, the nurse fine tuned the hair line for surgery.
Again, we were first, so we were immediately escorted downstairs to the surgery reception, and we were quickly greeted by one of the surgical nurses. I believe we had some very brief paperwork at that point, but we moved so efficiently, I could be wrong.
We were escorted to the surgical waiting area, where she changed into a johnny and a robe, and answered some of the standard surgical questions.
My wife is no fan of needles, and we let the nurse know that previous IV experiences weren't very good. When the nurse had trouble with the IV, she immediately called in one of the OR nurses who took over and inserted a new IV in one quick, painless hit.
They talked us through every single step, and soon, my wife was walking in to surgery. She says she climbed onto the table and doesn't remember a darned thing until waking up!
As she was waking up, the nurse went over post-op care with me in painstaking detail. What the meds are for, when to give them, what existing meds can be taken with them, etc. It was thorough, and I felt quite capable of caring for my wife when we returned to the hotel.
When she was awake and lucid, and had successfully emptied her bladder, they allowed her to dress, and called for the Hotel Shuttle. 5 minutes later, it arrived, and we were back in our hotel room before 11am!
At 7am prompt, the nurse visited our hotel room, and inspected the incision and took every bit of time we needed to feel comfortable for our trip home.
A few tips:
- An important detail is that Doctor Berger's facility is amazingly effecient; while you don't feel rushed, you are done before you know it. They have fine tuned the process so very little time is wasted.
- If you have a little extra time the night before your surgery, visit the Southpointe Mall (Just off Route 40, I beleive.) It is 10 minutes from the Sheraton. It's big, inviting, and my wife is a huge fan of See's Chocolates; there is a stand there, and it made for a nice post op "recovering" treat. There is also a Cheesecake Factory there. We didn't partake, but it's there [Smile]
- Stick to the medicine schedule! Don't be a hero and skip your pain meds, or you will regret it. My wife was sore, but now, 5 days later, had a few bouts of soreness that would have been difficult in the days after, without meds.
- The nurses are all wonderful people; we enjoyed meeting them, and letting them take care of my wife. One kind nurse referred to passing gas as "burping your pants," and we are still laughing at this great phrase. Let them take care of you, and you will do fine.

Did either of you feel that the pain meds were sufficient to take care of the pain during the trip back home? Also, were the post-operative instructions easy to understand?

Instructions are a step by step guide and very simple. I had no trouble with pain. I took the meds when I was suppose to and almost felt to good. I had to keep reminding myself that I'd just had surgery and couldn't do so much. I was such a whimp that the worst part of it all was taking the steri strips off after surgery. They're nothing but little strips that have adhesive on them kind of like a band aid. Felt like pulling a band aid off. The only time after surgery that I felt any pain was when I sneezed, and when I tried to get up to quick from laying or standing. I hope this helps.

- The nurses are all wonderful people; we enjoyed meeting them, and letting them take care of my wife. One kind nurse referred to passing gas as "burping your pants," and we are still laughing at this great phrase. Let them take care of you, and you will do fine.

Thanks so much (guidobob and Staci). You answered my questions wonderfully. I really needed a play by play; and you are right, I am nervous about the same things you mentioned. Did either of you feel that the pain meds were sufficient to take care of the pain during the trip back home? Also, were the post-operative instructions easy to understand?

Instructions are a step by step guide and very simple. I had no trouble with pain. I took the meds when I was suppose to and almost felt to good. I had to keep reminding myself that I'd just had surgery and couldn't do so much. I was such a whimp that the worst part of it all was taking the steri strips off after surgery. They're nothing but little strips that have adhesive on them kind of like a band aid. Felt like pulling a band aid off. The only time after surgery that I felt any pain was when I sneezed, and when I tried to get up to quick from laying or standing. I hope this helps.
